sponsons on a blaster are merely for looks...they dont do a thing on a blaster

I respectfully disagree.

It really depends on what you want, and what you are doing? For free riding/wave jumping, prob not necessary. If you want to turn some buoys, and have fast corner speed, then they are a must have. Most people like the rear sponsons, i run the front sponsons similar to what people use in their SXRs. Scottie Mac won the East Coast/West Coast Shootout in Nashville this year, and he runs rear sponsons.

Project currently underway. No bat wings but this should do the trick- whadya think Masher?

of course this is just one side in foam, but I got the shape roughed out. I was told to lift the nose and make it hook in corners. I think I can go more aggressive but but decided to not get too crazy.

The shape of the hull is such that it already has full length tubbies. which help it turn extremely well. but more is more.

Looking pretty good. its going to help the ski turn sharper too. At least thats what i noticed a bit.

Problem with the blasters is that the bond line is so high that the ski wants to bank over farther than its suppose too. Thats why i put the wings on my sponsons to act almost like a lower bond line to help it turn flatter. You arent going anywhere when there is no water in the pump. I still need to do some work to them, but right now it works pretty well.

I just made a copy of the blowsion sponsons, and then glassed it all in.

sorry i have no pics on this pc of my ski.

sponsons

I made a set for my blaster out of starboard and it made an incredible difference. It cost about $30 in materials and a few hours plus once you have the mounting plate and threaded inserts installed you can make any size and shape fins for very cheap. If you thought you blaster handled good before wait till you try these.

two questions- is that Chads old squarenose in your avatar? and are those rear sponsons race legal? If so that is very cool.
