Wdk starter wire smoking (please help)

This is my first freestyle ski. Just picked it up Sunday. It Ran fine before purchase. Ran fine for about 10 minutes once I got it home and put it in my pond. Now the starter just faintly clicks when I hit the button. I charged the battery to 100% and retried and then the starter wire started smoking. Engine (62t big bore) any and all help would be appreciated thanks!!

Check ground hasn't come loose. Make sure grounding cable not deteriorated inside

Will do! Had little more water in the hull than I like also do to janky scupper plate.

Ground wire ,check the end because sometimes the wires can be fractured at the connection but few strands will remain enough to hold it on .careful with this, should be dealt with or meltdown can occur
