Freestyle Wedges in foot holds

I see a lot of people running wedges that go under your heels when standing in the holds. I really noticed today when I'm riding with both feet kicked in I'm up riding on my toes. My heels are up in the air with no support. It's due to foothold placement and a super short pole. So I guess what I'm asking is will they make it more comfortable? And will it make me feel more stable with my entire foot supported rather than riding up on my toes?

It helps with skis that ride extremely nose high too . That way your feet aren't at weird angles when your tray is at an angle . Hard to explain but your tray us at say a 45 degree angle. You're standing straight so you'd feet would have to be at a 45 degree angle , with the wedges it puts your heel up taking away from that 45 angle. I know this probably doesn't make sense.

Oh did I have fun with these. This will be by far my best turf job yet. I stacked about 7 layers of turf in each hold, making each one shorter than the last, ramping each one up to support my entire foot when I'm kicked in. I also did a ring around them with 25mm padding, 2 layers and sanded it down. I turfed over that and ground the diamonds off and now it's all ready for a final layer of 8mm then final turf. I can see this taking a lot of heat gun time to get it done right. I'm happy with the feel now. I won't know until its in the water but I think now ill stay in.

i rode the savages hurricane xs1200 and he had a serious heel stop that took some twisting, just to get in there. i'm sure thats mandatory for doing multiple tricks. i know when i try a double backie on my freak, my feet usually fly out. thats if my hands dont rip off first. if your heels are able to lift up, i wouldnt think my foot was jamming in there far enough. i dont like doing rolls and trying to keep the ski from flying away with just my toe nails. single flips dont fling you out of the holds like rolls do. are the guys you see using wedges busting some moves or just floundering?

They both compete am. Ones a circus and the other is a kdx. After I'm done messing with this ill get back to turfing!

I do have more under padding under my heals. It's just like you said, when your riding your heal is lifted off the tray. The extra padding just adds a little more support under your heal.
I did also have heal stops to keep my feet from coming out but, after getting use to combos I pulled them off. If your in the right place on the ski while doing tricks your feet won't get pulled out. Many times now I'll do a string of combos and the last flip I do my feet won't be stuck in the foot holds
