Weight thread

So, im a bit bored and thought about this.
Could it be an idea to make a weight thread to post weights of diffrent parts. Ultimately we could out together a spread sheet.
That way it would be easy to put together a skis weight and/or to see were one could shave some weight.
Seems like some people are getting really light weight skis at the moment.

I will start with my old engine:
TPE 900 CO with PHP intake with V force 3 reeds, dual 49 ful specs. PFP manifold, engine side coupler, MSD stator plate with 2 pickups and MSD TL flywheel

33.3 kg or 73 lbs

Here are a bunch of weights from the bob website:
http://bobhull.weebly.com/2012-gen3.html
Worx Intake Grate - 2.5lbs
OEM Super Jet Midshaft Housing - 2.5lbs
Super Jet Steering, Throttle, Trim Cables & S/S Switch - 2.5lbs
(4) Super Jet Motor Mounts - 1.5lbs
All Hardware - 3.5lbs
Factory B-Pipe & Waterbox - 15.5lbs
X-Metal Pole w/ Bracket & steering - 16.5lbs
OEM Super Jet Tank - 5lbs
Super Jet Pump w/ X-Metal trim - 14.5lbs
701cc Motor w/ carbs, electrical & exhaust manifold - 83lbs
Exhaust Hose - 2.5lbs
All Parts total: 162.5lbs

The idea is good but to make it accurate it shouldn't be based on any complete set up such as a built motor. It should go by individual parts that way anyone can look up any part and do the math. Say for a stock KATS trim, weigh the reduction nozzle on its own, weigh the steering nozzle on its own, weigh the trim cable on its own etc. Engines, weigh one carb of each type or style on its own. What does a stock SBN38 weight? What does a factory SBN46 weigh? What does a stock intake manifold weigh? One reed cage assembly of whatever make and model...do it like that to get a true list of weights ;)

OEM 155 with bearings, seals, oil, pre '08 shaft, Thrust trim. No Imp.

Might be nice to add everything to a spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18E8TUeL7LHd2RdyXxOBPC0qNTQIC4wnWL843KQcBCBw/edit?usp=sharing
everything thus far has been added
type in either lbs or grams it will calculate the other
eventually would be nice to separate it out to motor choices, pole/steering, pipes etc. maybe with some fancier spreadsheet work make it so you just select what components you will use and have it spit out a complete weight for that combination

Thats perfect, thanks :)

If you guys worried about weight so much just, east less and shred off a few lbs from your fat asses lol
I love when people say this. Lay off a couple cheese burgers and you'll save $500 on Ti bolts. I wish it was true but couldn't be further from productive. On a freestyle ski you're concentrated on spinning mass around you, not a race ski accelerating to turn one. Give a heavy guy a super light ski and a light guy a heavy ski, both same power....you guys are smart, pretty sure you can figure out the outcome.

I dunno Zack,,, I see the logic in your post about accelerating to the next turn but, give a light guy a light ski and see what happens... case in point the Shredder. Gabe was only 100 lbs at World Finals last year and demolished everyone!!! Light Ski, light kid, but extremely heavy on talent.

It's easier to throw your body weight around then throw a heavier ski around. I've been getting lighter and lighter skis over the years, it's a huge improvement dropping weight.
