i was looking at another post on pwc i think and the plugs were like yours,half/half.it was a yami also.is that typical for these motors?

alright guys so i rejetted and tried tuning doing the idle tune, 1/4 throttle tune, and full throttle tune :banghead:
heres what i got
61x
46mm 120 low 145 high 2.0 n/s 25 pop off
stock cdi
fresh boysen reeds
advanced timing 2.5mm
175 psi head
bpipe (blaster mod)

spent the whole day trying to tune the other day and it was still running "rich" and eating plugs
i went through five sets of plugs doing all the tuning :frown: finally i had the last set and was doing the full throttle run and it ended up running so lean it starved itself and bogged real bad so when i got back to shore (real close, like 50 ft) i checked the plugs and they were black as can be???
i dont get it, they were fresh plugs and ran only for a full throttle run (maybe 5min) and it leans itself out and i come back and they're black??
its a weird black too, you know you have the rich wet black but this is like a dark grayish dry black, almost kinda charcoal looking burn and it ends up frying the plug
the plug still works but breaks up a little bit like almost like always hesitant but you put fresh plugs and it runs fine for like 10 min or so lol
i dunno, the only thing i havent check yet in the cdi, base and head gaskets(motor was rebuilt not too long ago), crank seals and i think thats it??

any help or clues would be grrreat :hail: :hail:
i am getting real sick of screwing with this thing and things arent adding up

pics? When my cdi gets back in you can borrow my stocker.

you better check your compression. I never got to feel it acting up maybe this is a electrical gremlin and the plugs are not being fired or something is happening and that is where the rich look is coming from.

Check your stator with OHM's meter bro, sounds to me like it may be running a little low and need a charging coil (brown wire). Check it at end of wire in elec. box and at the stator plate itself. If the stator is not at full capacity it will appear to be a fuel issue and you will chase it for ever with no resolve in carb tuning. Check Stator an plug wires.
