I have a sj w/ xmetal adj. pole and bracket and the thing kills my back. I can't ride for nearly as long as I could w/ a stock pole w/ spring. I like the way the xmetal pole and lowered bracket handle, but I need some spring assistance. I've been told UMI pole can run a spring - any others and what about a lowered bracket? Any helpful info is always appreciated.

I saw your boat at Joel's with the new pole on it and don't remember if you were running riser bars? thought about 75mm riser bars? I had a set on a SJ with a -2 UMI and standing in the tray static seemed alot more comfy. Have you called X Metal and asked them?

I am running riser bars (50mm I think) w/ blowsion turnplate. Had the same setup on a -2 stock pole w/ blowsion spring and loved it. Now I am running the setup on the xmetal pole and its killing my back. I do have it at -3 on the xmetal but I think its more the weight of the pole / stiffness than the length. I am gonna set it at -2 and test that this weekend, but am pretty sure I want to get back to a spring.
I dont know how thats possible unless they are using a pole bolt and not the pinch bolts.

yes pole bolt not pinch bolts and stainless steel spring equals no back pain...
