What are these SuperJets worth if anything?

Well I offered him $200 and explained to him the amount of work and time plus additional cost it would be to get them back into shape. He said one was running last season and now it's just not and there was no way that he was going to let them go for a couple hundred bux. So I told him to get ahold of me if he changes his mind.

He's being completely unrealistic and he's lying. Sitting exposed with no flywheel cover on means that the ignition is junk and probably the flywheel too. There is no way either of those ran last season. Even if they did, why did he take the flywheel cover off? My guess is because it wasn't running. It might have turned over a bit. I didn't see a fuel tank in there either. You made the right move.

I am with Garett on this one. Those things weren't running last year by a long shot. People just don't realize how much a total rebuild will cost and that their lack or maintenance caused the problems. A friend once found a used X2. Well the guy wanted 1k for it and it hadn't been run in three years, never winterized and had old gas in it. My stupid friend was ready to write a check for the whole 1k! I said nah lets come back on this one... I didn't want to spend my time fixing that thing.

I also agree with the title situation. I have been down that road as well. It took me jumping through way too many hoops to get titles to two skis once. I would just stay clear of those.

If he does call back,Ii would tell him 125 to 150 since he balked at your initial offer. They sit there lomg enough, he will just give them away.

Once he gets the money, you'll never see the titles, be prepared for that outcome.

And I'm not suggesting the guy's a dick or trying to screw you it's just we've had SO MANY threads about guys who "will get the title from the previous owner" and simply slack on getting the job done.

whats his asking price again. i would never buy a ski without a title especially if your going to fix it up and use it, if your parting it out then a bill of sale is good- why title if your going to part out.

yeah, I see what you guys mean. I would be a total hassel unless he has title in had when I went to pick them up. Walking away was probably the best bet.

He doesn't have an asking price he is just waiting for offers from people. He doesn't ride and he got them for free. So I guess he is going to sit on them for a while till he hears a good #. He pretty much laughed at my $200 offer.

Run the numbers with the DMV, sec of state, or county clerk and find out the registered owner's name.

Contact him and make him an offer.

If your guy never registered them and doesn't have his receipt or titles, then he has no claim to ownership. Ha!

Yeh. Go to DMV and say you need to find an owner of ski and you have registration #. I did same thing with trailer. I picked up trailer and two jetski 750SX and 650SX without papers from a guy for $200. I got 650 running and sold it . partout 750. And I went to DMV with plate from trailer. Paid $10 to find registered owner. Then went to guy and get a bill of sale from him. Now it's officially mine.

Yeah I like that idea. Then you can screw the current guy over by under cutting him. Serves him right for trying to get primo dollar out of junk. But then again that seems like more work than it is worth...

Everything on them is sun faded, decayed, rusty, and dirty. Almost worthless. Guy should've jumped at $200, especialy in the off season.

"It ran last summer" means nothing. I bought two waverunner IIIs with a trailer for $800, then sold the one that wasn't running (electrical problem) for $300-$400 (it was pretty clean). 6 months later I saw it posted on Craigslist "just needs a battery and a starter" it said... B.S. If it's not running, it's not running and price it as if it needs a new engine.

It never ceases to amaze me how people try to sell things these days. They want top dollar, and can't even clean up whatever it is they are selling. I mean c'mon, theres just no excuse for letting any machine get like that....ever! If they don't even care about the looks, what else did they not care about?? I would offer that guy 200 bucks, then stomp a mudhole in chode's a$$, then take back 100 bucks and both skis, then drive across town and beat down guy who gave said chode the skis. Only you can stop the cycle and offer these skis a loving home!:smashfreakB:
