I got a couple Go Pro Hero 3's for Xmas and I want to film in a variety angles...just curious what your fav angles are when watching a vid.

I got a chest mount strap, and going to stick a couple mounts to my helmet and the nose of ski SJ. Also fabbed a boomstick, but that may not make it to the water. Haha!

I like the angles where the camera has some separation from the rider. Quick Mick makes a mount that fits in the bow eye that serves this purpose for the most part. Or the people who have the small boom kicked off their helmet etc... The challenge is keeping it from breaking off and sinking.

I've become more and more of a fan of the helmet cam from a recording standpoint your head, neck, and body all act as a natural anti-vibration tool so to speak, and you can just look at what you want to shoot to get your buddies and what not. I stole someones idea and made a mount out of an old gas cap and a tripod mount, I like the view pointed at the rider from there quite a bit. I just got a second GoPro, and I plan to run one on my helmet almost always, and then move the other around to a bunch of different spots or have my buddies use it for a wide variety of shots.

I also like/want one of those cool spinny helmet mounts Swapmeet mentioned.

That is the plan...the app is pretty amazing. You can control quite a few cams with one phone.

I plan to go for a ride...look at the footage and adjust from there.

I may take the boomstick with me and just float in the water while other's ride.

Any angles good EXCEPT when the entire vid is from one perspective, especially the "Go Pro mounted on the front of the ski pointed back at the rider"angle. That angle may appease the film makers ego but it gives the rest of us motion sickness. Too bad 90% of the Go Pro vids are made in this angle. If you want anyone other than yourself to watch your video without vomiting blood, then make sure you have enough footage to mix up the films angles and perspectives when you edit it.

Im not good with iMovie or whatever but - is is possible to have two gopros - one helmet cam - one cam looking back at the rider then make a video with a picture in picture (split screen) ?? That might be cool?

Plenty o' free editing software (mac?) YouTube Tuts for imovie-split screen.

GoPro 3 will give you good slow motion. have fun, the challenge is 'uniqueness'

I like the vids with a little of everything, but the ones from the side of the helmet are my favorite for standard mounts. The rod mounted gopro on a swivel off the helmet is sick too - I've see a few vids with that setup... sick.

i hate the helmet angle, it is so over done and annoying to watch. constantly find yourself saying look up, look up, look up, next video. mounted to a ski pole is nice to work with and strap it to your back or hold it or hand the camera off to someone else or whatever, so it gives a bit more perspective. really just have to get good at knowing when you are filming all feet...

A little off topic but I remember my first 8mm waterproof housing. I need to find those tapes and get that footage probably only worth it to me but still nostalgia...

Anyways if you have a few I pros and mount one rear quarter panel facing forward you he some sweet transition shots on cornering and if you catch air and get horizontal rotation that looks good too. Combine the air shot with a helmet boom and you've got a good 5-8 seconds for your video!

Multiple angles are the plan on multiple rides and get as much footage as possible from as many angles as possible. I am not a fan of looking at the rider either when watchin a vid...it get's boring and if their is more then 5 secs of that in a vid I usuallly click to the next vid. haha.

Hey Guys, Im finally getting ym gopro and wondering what helmet mount to buy. Is there one that works better than the others? im just looking on the official gopro page http://gopro.com/camera-mounts . Is there someone else making sweet mounts that would work better? I would like to find something that mounts to a helmet or to my head without a helmet.

Just use the adhesive mounts they include with the cam...get it as far forward as possible. As for using without a helmet you could use a head strap. But would not recommend this as it is likely to fall off.

Whatever you get make sure you purchase a floaty back door so your new investment isn't claimed by the water gods.

I ziptie my gopro straight to the chin on my helmet. Works like a charm, gives a great 1st person perspective. It looks a lot better than the top of helmet view, gives better depth of the terrains your riding. I swap back and forth from my surf helmet to my dirt helmet. Use a shoe lace tied around the pivot on the mount as a tether.
