Freestyle What battery do i choose?

Ive just purchased a 1100 10mil DASA engine, setup for pump gas. Its going to run a charging ignition the first season, but eventually I will run a TL setup. Its going in a sfs Titan, installed in the rear corner, against the bulkhead. A light battery would be nice, but I would prefer a reliable battery more than a light battery. But can I get both? Ive read all the horror storied about WPS, AG, Earthx and ballistic, and can't stop thinking if lithiums are for me? I live in Denmark, so if it poops out on me, theres no returning it since that would be too expensive since its overseas dangerous goods.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Ive bin looking at Deka ETX 9/12/15L - but is the 9 enough for a 10mil stroker?

I had a larger deka in my 8 mil 865 with 200 compression, worked fine, was normal size and heavy.... I switched to a lay down pipe so 1'am now running the deka 9, it's a lot smaller and lighter and fits the limited slip fuel tank so I don't have to do a rear mount, cranks the engine the same So no issues there....

BUT it can't crank the engine for as long in a no start situation I noticed. One day I had ingested some water in my engine but didn't know it, so I was cranking it trying to get it to start and I noticed I was running the battery down faster than when I had the larger Deka so I stopped so I'd still have power for my bilge. When I got back to shore I used a jumper cables to assist the battery while I cleared the water out.

So aside from that water ingestion no start situation It's been working fine for me, I can't tell any difference between the two in terms of cranking speed or how it cranks my engine. I'll be switching to a 16 mil so I'll see how that goes lol...

His big a battery can you run rear mounted ?

Tbh I havent received the ski yet, so Im not sure how large a battery that fits - its still located at thrust. Just wanted to get some thoughts on the matter before I went crazy in the battery shopping department! But I would really like to be able to start my ski, no matter what. I ride along the coastline, so its not just some small lake where I just have to paddle to shore..

Deka 12 for long life and strong cranking power .lithiums all will fail at some point sooner than an AGM even with the most rigorous ,regimented ,monitored charging methods

So Deka 12 is enough for a 1100 10mil - or would a 15L be a better choice since height wouldn't matter that much..

You might be limited on size, Chris might know if a larger normal sized battery with more cranking hours will fit back there....a smaller battery is a little bit of a compromise on cranking hours

In my case one battery over the other didn't have a factor in my ski restarting, water was drenching the spark plugs so no battery could start it until the water was removed.

Edit: more accurately stated I had water intrusion coming up thru the exhaust pipe

In my case one battery over the other didn't have a factor in my ski restarting, water was drenching the spark plugs so no battery could start it until the water was removed.

It helps to throw in a set of plugs with the electrode cut half off so there's a huge gap to prevent water fouling and assist with starting. I saw this tip on a SBT video and it works !

Yes OP (original poster) the Deka 9 works great on my 10mm motor and it weighs only 7.2 lbs per some sites.
