What brand and type of oil do you use in your SXR??

Guys,

I just picked up an SXR. I had an old SXi with an oil injector, but I want to know what brand and type of oil you use in your SXR??

What's the best one to use??

You will get 100 different answers. Castrol 927 and klotz seem to be favorite. Amsoil is another that lots use. Some say get the cheapest and run it. Good luck. I run 927 now.

I run yamalube 45;1 in everything. Sxr limited, Superjet limited, x2 limited, gp1200 stock

I figured I'd ask to see what the general consensus is.

I always ran that Yamaha TC-W3 in the oil injector tank in the 1995 SXi I had, and I suppose it ran fine. It just seems like the SXR deserves something better than that,.......

I think if you are giing to ge really abusing it racing with extended wot high rpm then high end oils are a good idea but i believe for regular recreational riding a good quality oil is plenty, even on a limited. ive run quicksilver for years and was happy but found yamalube wholesale so i switched.

I ran Klotz Benol in my SXR which was set up for Stock Class Racing. It is overkill on oil. But when I rode, I typically had the throttle pinned.

Any TC-W3 oil will be fine in it..............

Any TC-W3 oil will be fine in it..............

i was using walmrt and other cheap oils and found them to be terrible. a drop of water in my motor would be a nightmare. Quicksilver, yamalube and other middle of the road oils seem to push the water right through the motor. Wasnt an issue at the lake but i had huge issues in the surf. A little ingestion with the cheap oils and it would shut my ski down and wouldnt restart. Same conditions with better oil and id lose some power but itd keep running and push it out.

I use Amsoil HP Marine because the gas station a mile from my house carries it for $8.90 a quart. If they carried Maxima I would be using Castor 927. Walmart carries the Pennzoil Marine TC-W3 by the gallon, I may start using it depending on the price.

I picked up some Pennzoil Dino Oil for using while breaking in. Got 10 minutes and had a slight seizure. dont know if that was the cause, but picked up Yamalube to break in again after rebuild.
