What breather tubes are you running?

I currently have 2 inch water dawg but they are too short because i cut them since they were wearing into my flywheel cover.

What are you guys using? How far down do you have it going into the engine compartment? All the way to the bottom? Few inches about?

Where is a place to get flexible tubes? I was thinking a pool supply store.

I don't run any either, but as much as we throw these things around, barrel rolls, nose stabs, tail stands, etc... I don't see the purpose of trying to make sure the water is directed to the bottom of the hull. I run stock air box. Am I wrong?

because when the ski subs, the hood is going to put water into the engine compartment. you don't want water being dumped directly on top of the engine, or dragging along ceiling of the hood and dropped on top of the motor and intake. if it's dumped out of the hood at the bottom of the engine compartment, it's given a chance to be bilged before it gets a chance to be splashed up and flow into the intake. some water will always make it to the intake in some quantity or another at some point, but if it's not directed to the bottom at first entry, it's almost guaranteed to make it into the motor, and in much larger amounts by comparison of running down tubes and being splashed up from the engine bay floor.

even better....

if the tubes are pushed up into the hood liner the water can't get into the engine compartment as easily as the air does. That is a bigger deal than directing the water to the bottom of the hull.

When installing tubes into a aftermarket hood, does anybody use rubber inserts such as the blowsion kit or do they just cut a hole and stuff them up in there? If they are just stuffed in there, does people seal them to the hood?

Actually all the above statements of the purpose of down spout tubes are incorrect. There purpose is to eliminate water intrusion into the engine compartment when the ski is inverted. The theory being that when the hood seal is working correctly and the control cables running through the pole base are sealed, then the only way water will be able to enter the engine compartment is through the hood air vent down spout tubes. When a ski is inverted the down spout tubes are pointed straight up with the ends above the water line, preventing water from entering the engine compartment. Same principal as the stock bilge which has a loop which must run above the water line or water will back travel into the hull when the engine is not running

Regardless if a ski is floating up right or inverted, the water line is right about the same as the bond line, so properly set up down spout tubes should run to approximately 3 inches of the bottom of the hull

i run oem breather tubes with homemade liner, the oem insersts i put theme in with the longer end up in the hood, plus i have the bottom 2 holes in front of the hood glassed in. only water injestion issues im have is from the handlepole area cuz my manic straps are under my handle pole bracket, and theres a small gap and the water leaks in from where the cables enter engine area.
