What carbs to run on my engine?

Actually I was thinking triple full spec 49's would be a perfect match, just need to build a triple carb to twin cylinder intake manifold from balsa wood. Should be simple enough and very lightweight!
LMAO! you'll need to tone down the technology. i agree, modded 44's by an aftermarket carb company, or standard 46's. BJ 44's, or the xscreams.

I decided to go with a like new set of SBN 46's, the set that OCD posted a link to earlier in this thread. Now I just need to figure out where to start on jets and popoff for my setup.

Thanks guys!

good choice,I have a sim able motor to yours and have run almost every carb on them. 46 black jacks 46 d booster novis,48 and 49 full specs, oem 46s and 44s. All worked well, but 46s made the best power to fuel use ratio for surf riding. That motor rips on tl and bpipe hard in surf, way more than most would expect

Masterblaster: that's my old engine

Rileym21: Masterblaster didn't want me to sell that engine and thinks I'll regret it
You will have a very good season with that engine and your new carbon Footrocket!

I vote for 38's. I run them on my 771 big bore stock stroke motor.

Easy tune ability, great carb signal, excellent fuel range, good power. Relatively cheap.

Sure you can squeeze a bit more power out of bigger carbs, but the response is usually not as crispy as the 38's and it drinks way more fuel.
I agree with Bruce. The 38s are fine. If your riding surf and you already have a light weight hull with plenty of power. I prefer the extra time riding. And honestly Bruce is on a fat heavy SN and still does flips and rolls like no tomorrow.

What's the point of investing in a stroker motor then running 38mm carbs. Terrible idea. Strokers give better carb signal than SS and allow bigger carbs to work well. 46s would be the best balance and 44s would be the smallest I'd go with. 44s give good fuel economy and most people don't ride long enough to empty a full tank of fuel before stopping anyway

Im running dual 38s on my JM BB 781

setup feels great n very snappy

My next big purchase for ski was/is gonna be carbs. Im thinking dual 44s maybe 46s as well... Id like Novis but just cant/dont wanna spend that much on carbs unless i can find a fairly new set used.

only downfall is gonna be the added fuel consumption.... I do run a full size superjet tank but i also run race gas so that price tag will eat at my pocket as well.

My Superfreak has a 771 big bore with 44s and I've compared to a well tuned big bore on 38s. Mine hits much harder and I have less bolt ons. All depends on tuning though and there's a lot of variables. 38s give a nice linear feel.
Stagesrt4 I think you'd be much better off lowering compression to pump gas level and running 44mm carbs. You'd probably feel no loss in power and would likely feel a gain. The money saved on race gas would pay for the carbs quickly. Even OEM 44s would be a great upgrade IMO and they are cheap to buy

Im running 35cc domes but i also have a new set of 37s at home had i choosen to go back to pump gas.

For the amount of hours i put on ski race gas isnt to big of killer. Guess we'll see how many hours i put on ski next season. I tend to ride my stock X2 when i go out on lake michigan with the group. To get out to the lake we have to take a no wake zone for a few miles n i just dont care to do that on the rocket.

What is your compression now?

Find an airport, run 4:1 AV fuel to 93. I have 210psi on my motor and this is what I run. Mcdog ran this ratio on his 850 stroker with 215-220 I believe. It's about $6.50 a gallon here. I love high compression motors, I feel they have way better throttle response

around 210+

If you are doing brapp, brapp freestyle type riding, then higher compression works on pump gas. I doubt you are riding wide open for long on a footrocket especially. Longer high RPM use is what builds up the heat and cuases detonation. My BB781 is at 210ish and run straight prem pump gas without issue. You could definately blend 50/50 if you want to be safe but the more race fuel you add the less power. My circus motor has about 235 and I run 50/50 on it.

Amazes me the compression some people run on pump gas. I guess for flat water and surf it's fine but damn. Even 210 on AV gas is crazy to me.

Then again I hold my ski open whenever I can.

yea just brap around... never wide open really

if i try to go with open on my foot rocket the ski just falls on its side... I think the lack of tubbies is hurting me there ha

I can get away with 93 or even a 50/50 mix but i just prefer to be safe for most part... I bought those spare 37cc domes off you if i do choose to take comp down a lil
