What do you guys think of Rok foot holds?

Just curious what everyone thinks of the enclosed Rok foot holds. I sprained my ankle this weekend after launching off a set up wake. Landed a bit vertical and to the right and when my legs went right my foot stayed and popped. I'm thinking of trimming the toe area so it's open to the tray so my foot has a path to exit if and when I land funny. Anyone ever opened a set up and been happy? Tks guys...

Mike, everyone on here is padding, blocking and wrapping foot holds to stay in the more. Watch some vids and find the holds that people are constantly kicking into, those might be what you're looking for.

Are ankle injuries just part of the game when using foot holds? I like being able to hold the tray better but if I'm going to tweek my ankle every time I land funny it's not really worth it...

Ive rode a few foothold setups and never had any problems, Though none of them were the Rok Fully enclosed footholds...

I did some foot damage getting stuck in a foothold that had far less of a lip around the toe area than these have. I think at some point or another you are going to get stuck in them and hurt you foot or ankle, but you can reduce the risk by setting them up right.

I hear ya zimmy. There is plenty of material there to work with and I think I can still have a great hold with an exit path to minimumize risk. Tweeked ankle=no riding:(

I think so. I have the turf off and it looks like the enclosed part Is an add on to the hold. Some guys run them without that enclosure completely schmidty?

Yes, I had a set on my SN without the enclosure.
I had enough room inside the hold to add padding and shape them for a snug fit

I have them in my ROK (enclosed) and my old 750sx (non enclosed). I dont think it's going to make a difference. You can cut it out if you'd like, but i'd only do it if you were looking for more room in the tray. On my ski the enclosure really doesnt do anything to keep you locked in, the amount of padding and shoes makes more of a difference. All my footholds, like foot straps, are set up to release when you lift up your foot. I never understood how you can get "stuck" in a foothold. I think even without footholds, you'd still have strained your ankle.

Ya you might be right curb. I haven't really liked the fit of the holds on my feet since I picked the ski up. I'm going to put some more effort getting them set up for my foot now that I have a few weeks I can't ride. Tks again to everyone for their opinions...

I've had them on about every ski I've owned...and luv them... I've had a few ankle landings that hurted...but on the bright side I stayed in the footholds cause coming out is way worse...ankle pain is way better then ribs or worse...lol.
