I have a gridle kit for my ADA head and can't seem to figure out the benfits of using the kit. If you put the kit on, do you need to replace the base gasket on the between the cycl and case?

what is the benefit?

thanks

Also good for waffles.

Girdle kits are for engines.
Griddles are for food.

A girdle kit sandwiches the cylinder between the head and the cases. Better support.

i think it really only SHOULD be done when running dry pipes. . i just did one on mine, i didnt have to seperate the jugs and case so i didnt have to disrupt the base gasket

The reason behind the recommendation is this: the combustion force acts against the pistons forcing them away from the cylinder domes which are in the head. The head is held onto the cases by the aluminum jacket of the cylinder jug, and is cast aluminum---not the strongest material and can have defects from the casting process. A girdle kit clamps the head onto the cases by studs, so the water jacket doesn't have to withstand those forces.

If I am running the stock head with stock compression, is there really also a chance for the cylinder cracking? Stock porting also! I plan on running a B pipe but do not want to add a cylinder head (I am worried of fuel quality on the river gas stations)

A girdled head doesn't mean you have to run premium fuel.
Most girdled heads have removable domes that come in different sizes. So, you could select a dome size that allows you to run low octane gas.
Or, just run the stock head. That's what I would do.

Its a crutch fix for a ********ty design ,there I said it.

The true fix is a beefier cylinder casting like a Lamey or a billet cylinder.

Kawasaki cylinders are a bit stronger due to the aluminum being cast onto the sleeves instead of machining the casting to put sleeves in.

So why girdle kits for Kawi engines? :dunno:
