I have a group k milled yamaha 701 bored to 710 with factory b pipe and mild porting.
Does it make a difference on the temperature where you ride or is it one standard mix for the engine?
Te previous owner was using 50-1. but he lives in colder weather. I live in warmer weather/water. not sure if it has anything to do with it.

please let me know

Thanks

I was running 50:1, but now I have. Sbt crank so my builder told me to run 45:1. At 50 hours on my limited and so far so good.

Not sure why people are telling you to run premium. Run the octane that matches you compression. Stock compression 87 is fine. 170-180 run 93.

the more oil the more you will lube the motor. yes you can foul out your plugs and the ski will smoke more. its better for it to have everything coated and covered in oil then lack of oil.. prevention is better then the cure!

i run 50:1 some days i will run 44:1
oil i use is TORCO gp7 in everything i own! i run it in my snow cross sled and all my dirt bike since the 90's never let me down
my second choice is castor 927 i always have this as my backup in my truck, trailer, or shop. this oil does like to separate if it sits for a week or so.. but you can just shake your ski in the water and it will remix itself. but as do all oils

the higher the octane the better it is. and safer for your engine. i would never, never, never run 87. i dont care if i only had 140psi per hole. its a little more expensive, but all engines like higher octane. 93 is the standard. i have a r&d head with 30cc domes so im running 210 per hole. i run 50/50 93 and 100av gas. 87 octane has too many variables to be safe. you might get a batch thats ok at one place ,then go to another and get 87 and your pinging and predetonating. if you just use the rule that 93 is the standard, that wont happen.

Thanks for all the replies they have been helpfull.

Where I live i dont have a choice in gas. All gas stations have the same exact gas. I called up the company who makes the gas (valero) to be sure.

They tested the gas here in the last month and it was rated at 97 octane. I always thought it was in the 80's.

So in the end should i run 50.1, 40.1 or 44.1?
