Freestyle What happened to the Flat Water sub forum?

I'm personally all new to this but I have mixed emotions about the change. I agree that either forum didnt get much attention. I almost think at this point put it all in General and call it a day. Leave a tag option for flatwater or freeriding or surf. Most people are an exact hybrid of it all. You can surf a boatwake like its a wave anyways.

We're I'm at in cleveland we get some SICK swells, but it's in the fall and winter. But let me tell you its indeed mind blowing and just awesome. But right now and through the summer it's mostly 2 foot chop down to ankle biter level. BUT there are plenty of boats kicking up some dust. I know guys with huge boats more than willing to kick up some dirt for me and the crew and I think most people inland (at least near the great lakes) have a similar situation...

The oside crew is just sick and I watch Jake Bright's video with the kid sister song constantly. The east coast guys rip like all hell too. In the end I think mixing the coastal salt riders with the inland guys is a good thing.

The reason for separating them in the first place was because surf ski and flat water set ups are so different that the advice given to newbs was getting confused. I don't really like combining them for this very reason, the confusion will return. I don't know anything about websites but apparently low volume threads aren't worth the providers efforts. I have to agree though, if they're going to get rid of the catagorized threads then might as well throw every thing in General with a tag for reference.

I actually tried that with the individual ski forums. It didn't work out very well.

So your opinion is you either have a multitude of specialized forums or you just have one? Whenever someone offers up 2 options, I try to find the third that is in the middle somewhere.

We have requests all the time for another forum, another forum, for a trailer forum, for engines for sale, for pumps for sale, etc etc. At what point do you draw the line? That's my job to find where the line should be and move it accordingly as things change which they always do.

It's all good feedback and always taken into account here.

I appreciate and thank the moderators for all their hard work of setting up and maintaining this forum!!

That being said, it is a sad day for me to think there isnt room for a separate section for the two main types of riding but room for a section on trailers??

Riding and setups for riding should be one of the main focuses of this forum, no?

There just weren't that many posts after 7 years, most people post those type of questions elsewhere.

Like Chris said thank you very much to the moderators for maintaining the forums.
I have to say though my riding style has changed dramatically over the last couple of years and I'm basically flat water only now. Working with big pumps, big engines, light little skis, and lighter wallets :) I think it's important we have a flat water section, I think it's growing much faster than free rideing and it's definitely bigger than racing which has it's own category on this site.

Good time to thank the moderators, so thanks for the supporting the threads. that said flatwater. but as a young rider who rides all lakes the flatwater section is really needed otherwise my questions simple as they may be go unanswered and are lost. so i think seperation is needed.

Yeah I agree with that to an extent. There are parts used in a surf build that aren't in a flatwater build and questions intended for a specific style can get lost in the shuffle. Maybe a flatwater and surf tag for new threads?

Well information is contained in all the threads that you can google search and retrieve.

The problem is that if you delete threads you delete valuable information.

All the info on this site since it's creation would need to be databased.

A member here is actually working on this and is doing good job.

I really liked the flatwater and Surf sections. I ride both and looked to both sections for different advice, information and general knowledge.
