I have the Azonics T-55 in matte black finish. Its a downhill moutain bike helmet. 16 vents for lots of drainage and removeable liner so you can wash it if needed. The outside has a very tough thick rubber coating so it doesnt scratch or chip. I payed $40 + shipping last year on sale somewhere, I can remember where though.
Great helmet for the price. Here is a link to a pic of one:

the best solution for safety, comfort, lightness and design is a Whitewater rafting helmet w/ or w/o a cage. Cascade makes a great one that I have used for years and it is by far the best I have used and I have tried them all...

full face bmx helmets are useless, heavy and they don't protect your face. The only helmet w/ REAL face protection is a whitewater/lacross helmet, but IMO the hockey/lacross helmets are way overboard and gonne be more weight.

maybe I"m paranoid but I prefer cascades lacrosse facemask to their white water facemask.

Hail Satan indeed.

Wavedemon, how does that small visor work out at keeping the sun out of your eyes and what size helmet is that ?

I'm looking at one of those but it's hard ordering one without having one on my melon. Wish someplace local had them in stock.

I don't think the visor does much other than move the grill further away from your face. their helmets are one size fits all, they provide you with foam inserts to custom size it. the inserts work a lot better than I expected.

the visor on my fly 606 III keeps a considerable amount of water out of my eyes if i put it all the way forward. the only thing i don't like about it is if i can't hide my head behind the pole for a real deep sub, the large surface area pushes that big dome down on my head/neck.

i've heard (and i guess it makes sense) you could injure yourself a lot worse if you hit the water at high speeds with a large helmet and get a neck injury. for the riding that most of us do the biggest threat is smackin our face on our own boat.
