What is a good race to Enter for a beginner

Location
STL
I have a 2008 Stock SXR and I have been riding for 1.5 seasons now and I want to start racing. I live in Saint Louis. What is a good race that would be good to start with? I assume there are different classes or skill levels...

Any advice is much appreciated

Thanks!!

Jeepinxj - what race did you enter? Is there a good website that lists the available races? I figured I would start with Novice, I just need to know when and where a race is at.

Check out ijsba.com for race's in your area.
Also you may want to start in beginner/rookie open ski class. It's a run what you brung class and usually has less laps than noivce.

The beginner classes are usually open or limited to allow for the average first timer to be able to race. Usually, most stand-up riders like to mod their craft with pipes/heads etc. By keeping the list of legal mods large, first time racers aren't told that they can't race because their boat is not legal.

You will do fine in beginner ski with a stock SXR. Beginner ski is all about the ride, learning the course, and not falling. If you come off the line good, don't miss a buoy and never fall you will win. I won on a stock SXR and I was age 45. Practice riding buoys and you will do great.
