When I build MSD TL systems and make battery cables I used tinned fine strand marine 6 gauge wire. You could go to 4 gauge, but I don't think it's necessary.

I'm going to make new cables very soon. Where are you getting your cable from? I need to order some, or try to find it somewhere if possible.
Also, are you using any type of special lug? I made the last set out of just standard T&B Lugs like I use at work. Seemed to hold up ok, though I'm sure it would corrode if I didn't clean them constantly, and only ride freshwater.
