Hi All,

Still trying to decide what engine to build up for next year. Can anyone tell me what ski the 66e bottom end is from and what is different between it and the 62T? Like can a 66e be used with 61X/62T/64X cylinders?

Thanks,
Dan

A custom bottom half of the 66e case is available to fit the 62t engine top half case. (maybe others) They started putting 66e's in gp800's, xl800's, etc back in 1998 or so. Then they made it a triple and called it a 66v, but jugs are the same. A company called " Thrust Dynamics" in Royal Palm Beach, Florida makes the custom case that fits right to the top half of the 66E case allowing you to put the separate jugs and powervalve setup / the whole top half into a superjet. The engine bed plates bolt right up to the custom made bottom engine case. It would be a pretty sick setup in a standup I bet. They sell both halves on ebay for like $550. Hope this helps..

Not being argumentative here but a couple of revisions are necessary, the custom bottom case fits the OEM 66e top case, not the 62t top case, it does use 62t-61x bedplates and 62t-61x electronics The jugs on the 66e and 66v are not the same, they have different porting, the 66e porting being the more aggressive of the two.

And the company that produces it is called Thrust Innovations.

Brian is a regular member here as well so I'm surprised we haven't seen a writeup on this before...unless I just missed it somehow.

Exactly!! Those cases were modified to bolt into 701 bedplates and use 701 electronics but there is no way to use any 701/760 cylinder on those cases. The 66e is a 120hp powervalve motor in stock form and can be a great motor if setup correctly. I planned on putting one in a B1 over the winter but have since dropped in a RIVA ported 760 that Im happy with so Im now selling the 66e and also have a 62t Im selling. The 66e will fit in superjet or B1 with modifications. WDK sells billet exhaust manifold and wetpipe chamber to fit in sj as well as a carb upright kit to fit the sj hull (the 66e uses sidedraft 46mm carbs so the upright kit mounts the carbs upright to reduce width for fitment in the sj hull) The other thing that must change is the mounts to fit the 66e in the sj hull. WDK sells mount setups as well as the Thrust Industries cases that were pointed out in this thread. Ive seen the 66e fit in a B1 with the stock exhaust and carb setup with minor fiberglass work but wont work in a Superjet. When wanting to add performance to the 66e down the road there is a lot that can be done as well. Cylinders from a 1300 tripple will bolt right up (the 800, 1200, 1300 use seperate jugs per cylinder and are replaceable separately) adding power and Group K has a 927 big bore setup starting with the 1300 cylinders to bigger bore, porting and custom head domes in the stock head so there is no limit to the power of this motor. Group K does moderate porting to all their motors so if you could find another engine builder with more 66e experience you will get bigger gains somewhere else if you do your homework. Hope that helps...

Exactly!! The 66e wont accept cylinders from a 701 or 760... the bolt pattern is much different and the 66e has separate jugs per cylinder. Those cases were modified to fit 701 electronics and bedplates to easily bolt into a B1 or SJ. The 66e is a 120hp powervalve motor in stock form and can be a great motor to bolt into a SJ or B1 hull if setup correctly. I have a GP800 I bought to do this swap into a B1 this winter but have since run a RIVA ported 760 that Im happy with so Ill be selling the 66e as a full swap and also a 62t. The 66e is a great starting point for big power and can be built bigger and bigger from there. You can bolt up cylinders from a 1300 that adds power and displacement instantly. Also Group K has a 927 big bore setup starting with the 1300 cylinders and giving it a bigger bore, porting, custom cut domes in the head for the bigger bore. 66e is not a well known engine to use since its not a direct bolt in application and there is a huge market for 701 performance mods and engine builds but if you do some homework and research on this engine you will see its worth the swap if thats what youre looking for and can be done on a budget since youd be starting with an 800cc powervalve motor in stock form. So as you can see there are mods that can be done as you afford them... start with some porting anc compression, then run some ported 1300 cylinders and have them bored by anyone to the larger size (dont quote me but I think you can bore 1300 cylinders to 89mm). WDK sells mounting parts to bolt the 66e into a superjet as well as the cases previously pointed out from Thrust Industries. WDK makes a billet exhaust manifold and wetpipe chamber for the superjet as well as a carb upright kit (the 66e uses 46mm mikuni sidedraft carbs and can be mounted upright to save space to fit in a smaller hull like the B1 or sj. Ive seen the 66e transplanted to a B1 using the stock exhaust and carb mounting with some minor fiberglass work to widen the hull for fitment. I hope that helps...

I'm doing the same project and i have problem with exhaust manifold and exhaust.
I have already 760 bored with factory b pipe and wb800 ported.
Engine from wb800 i wanna put to sj hull, can you give me some advises :) ??

Best regards
Thomas

Yamaha made these 800 skis:

WB800 (Not is USA)
98-00 GP800
01-05 GP800R
99-00 XL800 Limited
01-05 XLT800

All use the same 66E 800 motor.

That lower case half looks cool, are they still produced/sold?

kaw B style manifold, the center two bolts are now 8mm on cylender and the bottom two line up with kaw manifold kinda just oblong them. the plates are thinner at the bottom to help pull the headpipe away from hull.
