Super Jet What is the difference between the 66e and 62T cases?

66e can only make good power by doing the 927 kit, pipe, port work and total loss, I know from experience. Biggest draw back is this motor setup is very heavy.

True, but it takes more work/money to unleash its potential. X-scream is making some nice power with these motors but they are $10k

Too bad you weren't at Body Beach in 2013 when Kavanaugh got on a WDK RokR 927. He was really airing it out, Advent, WDK wet pipe and SBN 46's. Ignition for sure where its at, a little decking, reshape the domes and change the divergence then ya got something. Whats the weight difference compared to a cast crank 10mm stroker? 10-12lbs? Definitely harder to make it happen than on a 62t because of parts availability, but a lot of potential with the 66E. In the end you could have a great engine for money spent if you had a reliable parts source for the 66E platform.

I know they can be made in to one sweet setup. Just takes a lot more money to get there. They were designed for full wot for couches, mid to top power. The motor setup is a good 20lbs more.

I think you could make enough power to compensate for the weight difference ( which isn't 20lb if you go 78mm stroke on 62t) for less money. The, like I mentioned, is parts. Unless you convert to 62T electronics like XMetal does then ignitions are hard to come by. The 87mm bore and re plate isn't bad, pistons are 187 each. A little decking and some custom domes and you're in. A lot less than if you went to 78mmx 87mm on a 62T. If you go billet 900 now theres a really big price difference. Just gotta get your hands on, or make your own, upright kit, intake and exhaust. This has been discussed to death and the conclusion is, that its just easier to run the 62T in a lot of ways, but the 66E is viable and can make great power per dollar.

I am on the fence about building another 66E boat, my current hull has motor mounts for the OEM 66E cases so I could ski the adapter. The intake setup isn't too hard to work around, its just figuring out the exhaust because I will not run another lay down pipe. I am confident a bone stock 66E with a pipe will outperform any stock stroke, stock cylinder 62T motor configuration.

I built a pipe for a WB800 years ago using the oem header, the ski jumped out the water on pull away(The WB800 weighs about 550lbs) and kept on pulling. Changing carbs to 48mm Novis also resulted in an impressive increase
The recent thread by TNT spoke of the powerband being manipulated/determined by the pipe, head, carbs, ignition, etc., more people need to read it and listen to the wise words, Dan Lamey wrote something similar years ago
