Adding to this threads questions any suggestions on places to buy wheels on a budget (meaning cheap as possible) other than wheeleez which is to expensive.

Thanks,

I run the standard rear lawn tractor wheels and tires from Lowes or Home Depot. No issues on any surfaces at all. I used furniture dolly wheels and must say that for Florida hard sand they did just fine. Much lighter and easier to roll than the big tractor wheels.

Sounds like these (16 x 8) are not worth building project around?

Those would work fine.. I know Tanman's beach cart he built has quad tires, wheels, and hubs on it and it works GREAT! You just need wide so they spread the load and float better on the sand..

Cool. Guess I'll go for it. I have some golf cart wheels that are bigger but the tires are somewhat thrashed and they would need a lot of cleanup and tubes. These ones are in much better shape and hold air.

I live about half a mile from the lake/boat ramp. Golf carts are kind of permitted here (meaning not technically legal, but several people drive around on UTV's and golf carts with no problems, it's kinda rural out here). I was thinking of getting a golf cart and building a lightweight trailer/beach cart to tow my ski over to the ramp. The trailer would basically be a beach cart, but with hubs and real bearings so I go go 35 mph (or more). ATV hubs/wheels/bearings seem like a decent idea. They are balloony enough that I doubt the trailer would need suspension, that would save some weight.

Depends on what kinda sand you are pulling over. Here in NJ even the expensive wide bigfoot ballon tires are hard to pull over the deep sugar sand with 2 people. Could never get away with anything less.

i have some rims and tires off an old tote ill sell for 50$..the axle diameter is smaller than a tiger tote though but if u are making a custom cart just make the axle size accordingly..i can bring them to pismo for the freeride if u want them..i thought i had some pics on the computer but i must have erased them..i can take some tonight if u want..
