Yes they did. I had one and it was still loud af with a rrp pipe and rrp water box even with a 701

Storbeck, I just remembered my buddies ski with V3 pipe and tnt box, didn’t seem all that noisy to me. I also remember people complaining the tnt box was robbing power and switching them out. Some comparison threads exist that might help.. few years back there were lots of tnt water boxes coming up for sale.

I'm familiar with that thread, but he's got a 898 running SUPER aggressive race gas tune with 250psi of compression and a ton of advance, I don't think it's a good indication of what will happen on the relatively mild pump gas stock cylinder motor I have this on, TNT even says in the thread that his pipe doesn't like a ton of compression and advance.
Searching around in old threads on here it does look like there are a few versions of the TNT box and different stingers on the pipe, not sure what I have as I got it all used.

RRP laydown pipe waterbox is just an empty box with no baffles, so it is loud and also terrible for water backing into the chamber to motor, inlet and outlet at the same level.
Sounds like we've completely ruled out the rrp and the Jetmaniac is looking like a favorite.

I'm guessing there is probably at least one pfp among the skis your comparing so we can say the Maniac box with the water is quieter than a pfp?

To follow up on this a little bit, I got ahold of Tim at TNT and after exchanging some pictures he confirmed it's not a TNT box. Evidently a copy, with some internal components left out. I got it used from somebody on here (don't remember who) but I didn't want a thread out there with misleading info about the TNT box.

For my ATC70 with fmf pipe I shoved a ton of stainless steel wool in the muffler to quiet it down. Picked up a ton of bottom end too. 
This makes some sense because by buddies ski with a real TNT box didn’t seem that noisy to me.
Now that it’s not a genuine box, can you share your images of this box so we can all see the fake ?
I can post a pic I guess, but it just looks like a big aluminum box the size and shape of a TNT waterbox. I used a bore scope then just cut it open and sent Tim a picture of the guts and he said it was different than his box. I don't know exactly what the difference is and I wouldn't really expect him to explain exactly how to copy his correctly. He helped me out with some other setup stuff on the pipe and motor which was pretty cool, I got this all used so I consider that above and beyond.
Oh ok... yeah, actually later I was thinking, wait I think it was covered in turf too so not much baffle welds to see on the outside either.. I agree, probably no need for photos at this point... thanks for responding.
