This is the motor out of my low hour 1996 B1. I was going to build a limited race motor with it. It runs perfect!! It also has a 00 cylinder, perfect for limited class!! It has never been apart aside from the Protec head. What do you think it is worth?? It is complete minus the starter.

At this point it is not for sale. I was trying to figure out if it was worth selling to fund my other projects. $500 is not even close to what I believe it is worth. I am just looking for true value..:scratchchin:

Good cylinders for racing stock class. Cylinders with numbers that low are not easy to find. I would guess with carbs $800-$1100 depending on the condition...corrosion, compression and so on.

The motor is a 9 out of 10, Cosmetically. No corrosion what so ever. I will test compression tomorrow. The motor pulled real well with a B pipe and MSD.:scared:

Just looked at the pictures again. Are you selling it the way it is pictured with the stator (and I assume the flywheel and bendix) and the front cover? If so you could add another couple hundred to that.

It is a pretty commonly shared thought that those numbers are pretty much meaning less as far as value or power of a cylinder, most likely traced back to some sort of quantizing in the manufacturing stages.

No where NEAR hard enough to race a B1 though. If you're looking to race a B1 then the minimum would be a bigbore flattop superstock/dominator setup. Even then you would still be behind the pack being that the standard has become an 8-10mil PV Lamey.

When racing stock or limited class, every little advantage helps....00 flows much better than say 10/12....00 is as close to a ported cylinder you can get with a stock cylinder... 00 is meaningless if you alter the cylinder in any way... I have seen pro racers pay $600.00 for a cylinder like this..

I do not believe there are any facts to back up those statements.

Did you read that entire thread I linked?
