What kinda oil do you use?

Hey guys..I'm just breaking in my rebuilt but NEW to me SJ and I was wondering what kinda oil you guys mix in your SJ's? I have not had a single reply to any post I have made so far and I scanned the whole website for posts concerning this. Hope someone can help me for once.

I'm using conventional oil to break it in but I was wondering if anyone suggests synthetic or any specific brands to use after my break-in.

Unfortunately walmart only carries Supertech PCW-3 oil and I don't want to use that!

Asking what kind of oil is alot like asking what kind of wax is best.


My mechanic said just use anything that has a TC-W3 rating. Don't mix synthetic with regular as many peeps have complained of problems.

the walmart by my housw has quicksilver too. Like I've said before. All my friends use that supertech oil with zero probs. One of the motors is a dasa 1000 10 mill and the motor breaks down and looks great every season.

i use amsoil interceptor and Kawasaki brand oil in my two skis.

Amsoil Dominator 50:1 in my big bore. 200 gallons of fuel later, the crank, bores, and pistons look brand-new.

i use R-50
have also used quicksilver without any problems
i went R50 due to the high compressions i prefer to run
other the cheap stuff would be fine

I was always told to run my ski 32:1, is that bad or something? Seem like 40:1 is more popular

the SXR is supposed to be mixed 60:1, per Kawi...he's doing it like he's supposed to. Doesn't seem "right" to me, but that's what the manual says!



in my SJ I use Maxima Castor927, 40:1. It smells so good. I'm gonna cook french fries in it someday.

i run super m (maxima) 50:1 , the castor 927 does smell great but smokes a bit.it also has build up problems from my experience at 50:1 in my ski.my bikes on the other hand run great on it ,but need the occasional power valve cleaning.

I'm starting to have trouble finding quicksilver here, and those locations that do have it are starting to charge quite a bit more per gallon. I read in a few outboard forums that quicksilver is the same the equivalent mercury oil. I knew that they were both "mercury" oils, i just didn't know if there was a difference. Boating geeks say no.
Quicksilver = mercury oil sold at non mercury Authorized dealers

Quicksilver premium = Mercury premium
Quicksilver premium plus = mercury premium plus

ps I use quicksilver premium (and now merc premium) mixed 32:1 as per chuck.
