What makes more power, different pipe or new carb?

My 94 is currently running a 1mm over 701 with protec pipe, carbon tech reeds, MSD ignition and shaved head @ 175psi. Otherwise the motor is stock. Over the winter I'm porting with the porting template and getting it bored another 2mm to use 760 pistons. I wanted to do a 46mm carb or more, but then got to thinking if the same money added to selling my protec pipe could equal a B pipe, which might be more overall power then the protec with bigger carb....choices choices! What does everyone think is the wiser move?

Take it to 83mm. at 84mm you are at the absolute limit. Ported 61x wakes up at 83mm.

Agreed, plus when you go above 83mm you must use 760 domes. How would a shaved 701 head/domes not have an issue at 84mm ?
Head is going to get recut for 190psi regardless of final bore size, they cut for whatever size I end up with :D
I don't ski enough to go threw cylinders fast. My current bore is 3 seasons in and totally fine still, I just want bigger. If groupK, aka the kings of conservative, are ok with 84.5mm in a rec ski, I should be able to get 84.25mm if needed. And even if not, cylinders are pretty cheap.

Go with a 46mm carb new reeds if needed and porting. The protec probably makes more power then a bpipe. So unless you are having issues with it keep it.

Also check out @Nuklear6 for the porting. The 61x cylinders he did for me make great power.

Why do you say "Protec probably makes more power" Have you tested this pipe?

I wish there was an actual test with same ski and rider just different pipes to compare. The protec pipe, riva red pipe, and oem wetjet exhausts all look extremely similar in shape, then you have the B pipe which is totally different and thats leaving the laydown pipes alone haha. Thanks to my super duper dyno thread we all know there is no point in dyno comparing so whats a dude to do?

A b pipe will poop all over any of those other pipes....there’s a reason they still demand near on $1000 and the others are 2-300. And if you think otherwise you don’t know how to tune a b pipe and your carb properly.
