What mod next? Mag pump, ATP flame, powerfactor pipe?

Trying to figure out what to buy next. To me these are the last three thing to do to my ski and they all seem like they are equal upgrades. Post in what order you would buy them.

Ski info;
X-scream ss865 on first bore(827)
X-scream modded b-pipe setup
X-scream modded 46's
Riva intake with v-force reeds
MSD enhancer(all other electronics are stock)
Stock flywheel
Oem 144 yamaha pump with tbm pump cone and 13/18 c75 prop

Last question, how much is a Powerfactor pipe and waterbox?

looks like you have the pump covered already, if you didnt have the tbm cone/c-75 id say mag

id go with T/L next

then power factor pipe

then maybe do the mag

I can't comment on the Powerfactor pipe, but I have added ATP Flame and a mag pump in short succession on my setup a couple of years ago.

The mag pump made a far bigger difference than the ignition did, but it's entirely possible that the gains from the ignition weren't fully realized until the mag pump put the power to the water.

Meh. I've tried both on similar setups. The mag is worth the extra money (if it is setup right and not just thrown in without any tuning)

And by the time you sell that stock pump with TBM cone and that impeller, you're only a few hundred away from the real deal. It's the cheapest upgrade he can make.

I was thinking mag pump first just do to the fact it is the easiest to install and less to maintain( I hate electronics)
All those mods will be done over some time just not sure what is the best for now. It's a pure flatwater freestyle ski

Another thing to add is if I keep that pump setup I'd need to buy a new prop. It's suposed to have a 14/19 not a 13/18. As it is now I can get it to cavitate

send out the stcok flywheel and get it lightened!

I've done that and actually compared a stocker back to back with a lightened stocker. I couldn't tell the difference at all. :dunno:
It's cheap, but if you can't tell a power difference then it's wasted money.

Besides, a TL is programmable - that's where the gains come from, mostly.

PS: I suck at noticing subtle differences in power.

fair point... i thought the tbm cone was pointless.. but then i never ran the c75 prop... you are correct tho about the few hundred bucks to upgrade from tbm to mag, especially with that price from thrust.....

my big mod this year was T/L first time i ever tried it, last year i had the SS865 with a MSD enhancer/tbm flywheel, this year a 718 with a flame and i would say the skis performed very similar....

Like I said - perhaps the TL would have made a bigger initial difference if I had the mag pump installed first.

so a T/L type ignition makes that big of a difference? I have never been able to try a T/L ski. I am thinking of going with a bigger motor for next year but maybe T/L is the little extra HP to get me the last 1/8 rotation on the tricks I am failing on now.

TL makes a very noticeable difference. I am very happy with my motor, it's nothing special, but when I had TL on it I was suprised and how much more snap I got. You also can tune it in for more bottom end. Only thing is, if you are going to ride in saltwater you will want to have it covered in a lexan box. It is also very expensive too, but it's on par with a mag pump.

I would also check out the new mag on a budget that Thrust has come out with.

I ran epic on my cuurent motor Changed to Flame made a big diffrence same curve on both pump gas motor
Flywheel wieght and less drag on FW from magnets
Msd does hit harder than a flame IMO but the salt water is worth giving up a little to me

Mag in the surf is the bomb Didnt really notice the diffrence in flat on my old motor

Power factor is my next step if I can figure out how to run 3 gal or more with it
I thought i read that PF doesnt give you reall big gains unless your running over 920cc
Currect me if im wrong

All that said im not a flat water guy Cant make a set up wake to save my life

I have the mag pump already, I have the budget for approximately 4-5 k for winter improvements, I was thinking t/l and Jetmaniac big bore shortblock, I have everything else from my Jetmaniac 710. Already have a lightened flywheel, would a TBM flywheel make a noticeable difference? Bigger carbs (even though the maniac swears by 38's) and carbon reeds? What do you guys think

T/L makes HUGE difference... im converted!
+1 Same here :woot:

I could not really notice that much a difference with just a lightened flywheel as well. But with the Flame and over 2lbs taken off the flywheel weight (evenly distributed mind you) the power factor is unreal. The motor's accelleration now just spins up so fast

Got a chance to ride BOB Gen 2s back to back

1st 865cc Xscream, Bpipe, MSD enhancer, dual carbs, race gas

2nd 865cc Xscream, power factor, API Flame TL, dual carbs, race gas

Good god all I can say is #2 walked all over #1. #1 was no slouch and takes a poop on my 701 but the wake up and legs that you get from the TL and PF was impressive!
