So this is basically what my SquareNose is up to now. Ive just added the flywheel, boysens, and removed the riva red pipe. Ski is still not together and I have no idea how it rides, but as of last ride it deffinately didnt hit of bottom like Id want... I have the engine apart and I'm still feeling frisky. So where next? Ive somewhat reached a mental block and cannot think of anything easy/cheap to do, perhaps Im overlooking something. Ive thought about going to 44/46 carbs, but after reading up, it just doesnt seem worth the $400-$500 investment, dual 38s can hit just as good. The prospect of the NorthWest big bore sleeves is looking very good... Though I know strokers make more power than bore, but this seems easier ( read: cheaper) than a 5mm stroker.

[X] ported 61x cylinder 1 bore over
[X] 62T cases
[X] Rad Charging flywheel (2.04 lbs!!!) & 62t stator
[X] Boysen carbon reeds
[X] Triton Engineering head 195psi comp
[X] Blaster Mod B pipe (assuming Nikad actually DID ship it this time:twak:)
[X] twin 38's w/ separate fuel lines and dual external pumps
[ ] Big Bore sleeves.....
[ ] _______________(??)

[X] Impros 13/16 cutback prop
[X] WetWolf Cone
[X] Ocean Pro holeshot steering nozzle (soon to be raider trim)
[ ] Bored nozzle

Im not sure what else. If I end up getting a new job I was thinking about sending it to magoo or team scream... but I doubt that will happen this month.

eh... Im not gonna pay out the ass for a CDI that doesnt work much better than stock.

Ive been looking for an advent (pfft, good luck), my buddy has a Vilder that doesnt work (they are out of business now), and Ive been considering the WAXhead (dont know the price but I think its around $600...thats rich)
I did a 3* static advance on mine already though.

Perhaps paul or chuck will chime in.

find a used enhancer, ive good luck with them too if they dont sit in a wet E box for a winter.

OR, remove rev limit on your stocker, and advance the stator a bit, thats nearly as good as an enhancer

Definitely get a MSD Enhancer at least for a cdi. Advents don't work with the older RAD flywheels. Big bore would be a great way to make power, but must be set up and ported correctly for freestyle.
My 'B' pipe mods will also work well even on a 701 baby motor.
My 828's 5mm strokers are the bomb too...
Send me stock 62t cases and a cherry stock 61x 701 cylinder and $5000 and 3 weeks your problem solved with a big engine, but then will need a set of my 46's Mikunis matched to my manifold and Kawsaki reed cage conversion...

5 years on my MSD that I bought used and no problems(knock on wood)...

I have no doubt that they are reliable, just the fact that they barely advance the timing at all. Like what... a total of 4-5 degrees over the stock CDI? Sure they retard at the higher end... but not worth $150 to me.

A big bore isn't cheap. Plan on spending $1000 to do it.
Price to power that seems pretty cheap to me.... I spent just under 500 on my Blaster pipe, and thats just cause I really wanted to scrap my Riva Red pipe.

I would love for you to do work on my motor. Ive sent you a couple PM's about your carbs, and your special B-Pipe mods... but you never seem to read/answer them.... Idealy Id love to have a 5-6mm stroker and perhaps even a big bore at the same time using NorthWest sleeves to retain 61x port timing (unlike the LA sleeves) Sure I know I'd deffinately have to go to bigger carbs then though. What would it cost for you to set me up with a stroker and big bore sleeves? I honestly dont believe it would take 5k... thats perhaps $1000 of parts (not including carbs, etc) but another 4k in labor???

Really Id like to buy and assemble everything myself, I can get get everything machined and pressed for cheap, then send it to someone to have it ported and a final setup.

What exactly do you get for $5000. Do you have a price breakdown?

Thanks!

I would guess from http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/27984

Break Down :
- 62t Case / 61x Cylinder
- Big Bore Sleeved
- +5mm lightened billet Stroker Crank
- Modified Wiseco 85mm Pistons
- ADA Girdled Head
- Team Scream Custom Machined Domes
- Team Scream Signature Case and Cylinder Porting

with good core cases/cylinder.

You get a stroked, big bore that hits like a ton of bricks.
It's what I will have before the year is over and my "baby 701" (thanks Chuck for making me feel small:bigok:) will be in my X2.

It's more than just slapping a cylinder and some cases together in hopes that it will run good. I have been shown that it's the whole package (from FA to stinger) that makes the motor BRAAAP.

I agree that the entire package is what makes it all work well, but what Chuckie quoted for $5000 doesn't appear include the stinger mod, FA's, carbs, or anything else. That's a tremendous amount of cash for a motor built on an OE casting. I was really just asking for a price breakdown showing what individual parts/labor prices are included to get to $5000. I think a $5000 price tag would be easier to justify if the component prices used to get to $5000 could be clearly seen. Might be easier to swallow.:veryhappy: Thanks!

Well a stroker crank can average $1500
special pistons, $200 each
NW sleeves, $130 each
head, $300-350
plus the cost of 61x cylinder and 62t cases
From Tim Judge epoxy ported cases are $750
Porting the cylinder
fitting the stroker crank
This stuff cost $$$ Also paying them for what they know...
I am doing a 770 BB flat top right now http://x-h2o.com/showthread.php?t=29029

Ive read up on all the info about flat tops and think thats silly to go through that much trouble for not much gain and depending on quality of work a drop in reliability. I would like to just swap pistons and sleeves and be done with it. I wouldnt do BB and stroker at the same time. Sleeves and pistons would cost me $410. Machining would probably be about $50 - $75.

200 a piston ? that was last years price. I would bet the prices are up now. There has been a price increase on wisecos. Just call wiseco an confirm. Too much money in my opinion. i would just let people think they are flat top and run domed pistons. No body would know anyway.
