What paint to use?

What paint do you all use? Need to paint a ski and was thinking of using a topside boat paint like petite or interlux. Anyone use this right out of the can or used thinner? Was thinking about just rolling it on vs sprayer due to not having one

I used Dupont Nason Series Single Stage the last ski I painted. Strong paint and holds up.
Rolling on on some of that interlux paint looks ok. But honestly never seen a ski done it it, just the engine bays.

I just use automotive urethane. I've done both single stage and base coat/clear coat. If you are interested in the Interlux and can't spray, I don't have experience myself, but have seen good results when people use the proper 'roll and tip' method. May consider looking into that.

Whats the roll and tip method? roll on the open spots and use a brush in the corners and tighter spots?

Short version is you apply the paint with a roller like you are thinking of doing. While still wet, so probably good to work in smaller areas, run a brush across it. It’s supposed to help the paint dry to a smooth finish since you aren’t spraying. Very common on boats. There are tons of write ups and videos that can explain the process in detail.

I painted mine with the duplicolor paint shop paint. No need to mix up. Just pour into gun and shoot. No matter what you still have to do the basics correctly.
