What part is this?

On my fx1, I just discovered this plastic little box with a bunch of holes in it, almost looks like a plastic cheesegrater. It is connected to a black hose that seems to go inside of the tray. Cannot take a picture of it now.

What is this, and what is its purpose?

So is it any good, or should I disconnect it? (I have an aftermarket one). If I disconnect it and do not plug the hole, will it cause water to get in my foam?

Leave it. It's cheap insurance as its pumping water out whenever you engine is running

Agree with above...if you do remove it though you need to plug up the tube that runs through the tray on both ends, otherwise yor ski will fill with water.
