I support my habit lately by selling off all the remnants of prior years purchases. The only money that comes from our personal accounts is travel money for fuel and lodging when we travel to ride. I operate my jetski fund like a business and for the last year it's been self sustaining.

pretty much the same here. i have a fund, even though depleted currently, that receives funds through the sale of existing machines and/or parts. i never cross over into family funds and every once in awhile i'll give it a cash infusion from fat commision or bonus. the rest of my money is spoken for by my wife and daughter:grumble:

Remember, this is total spent EVER on current lot of skis/parts. Not what you spend per year.

By that standard I have closer to 45% of my annual income tied up in just 2 skis but that's only 14% of my net worth. It took 15 years to evolve to that point though with maybe an 5-10% infusion each year, depending on the year.

I'm with BK, really the ratio you are asking for is only an indicator of how hardcore you are about skis.

 I have less than 10% of my income invested in my daily driver. :bigok:

Dont see the point. If your basing something on yearly income then you base it on what you spend in a year.

Plus with job changes your yeary income can change drastically.

I think the basis of the question is meant as "what protion of your net worth is in ski related assetts and how does that relate percentage wise to your income" I think about that alot sometimes and then justify it by looking at everyone else with a hobbie such as Harleys and Ski Boats and Bass boats and campers and inground swimming pools and hot rods and the list goes on. In relation to most americans hobbies the skis are miniscule IMO.
You cannot buy a new or decent used Harley, ski boat, hot rod or bass boat for what I have in all three of my skis and 2 trlrs..

While costly monthly if you actually ride them alot they are a small investment for a great sport / hobbie.

The correct way to ask then would have been; how much of your net worth do you have invested in your ski related items? (Net worth being the value of all assests minus debt). I'll bet you'd need to add a few more negative percentages to the poll to cover this group. :naughty:

Total ski related investment versus Net worth; I'm at 14%.
