Well because we're all talking about pipes and you guys know...

Whats your feelings on the protec pipe.. the one w/o injection on a 701

It's a Type 4. I run this pipe on my limited 701 and it has great bottom end. (I have ridden strokers with less bottom end!!!!) If you know how to tune, this pipe kicks!! Yes a girdle is the only way to go with a stock cyl. I learnt the hard way!!:banghead:
Just because it is a stroker does not mean it is going to have bottom end....... most strokers started out as race motors, which would not be set up for bottom end.

Yep---I had a 6mm ProTec stroker that woukld not "light up" until mid throttle. It would haul a-s-s, though.

Light cyl. porting and a lightened flywheel would be my 1st motor mods. But you will need foot holds and shorter rideplate as well. If you have a stock handlepole I would strongley recomend a limmitter rope.

This ski was built to run in the limited class (got used very little and never raced), what would need to or should be changed for freestyle.
*It has Novi's, Msd enhancer, the type 4 w/ injection, prop (pitch currently unknown), op rideplate, intake grate, and protec head

IMHO, the only real good reason to go with a B-Pipe is the reliability (and throttle response).
I had a Speedwerx dry pipe (the racing version) that made a whole lot of power. I went to the B-pipe because I kept blowing O-rings and got tired of it. I could have fixed it, but the B-Pipe was just reliable from the bolt on.

If you have a Type 4 tuned properly it is as good if not better than a "B" pipe (power wise) unfortunateley, they are hard to tune to a ported motor w/ aftermarket carbs IMO and they are very HIGH Maintinence due to lord mounts and couplers.
I personaly would keep the non girdle head (save the $) sell the type 4 and buy a "B" pipe as I hate wrenching after every 3 rides (speaking from type 4 experience).

Well, I guess it depends how you set it up. I have ridden a couple of strokers that were so strong on the bottom it was stupid.:arms: On the other hand I have ridden strokers that needed half throttle before it had any power all? But after 1/2 throttle they would rip. That is not for me, I like the clean crisp power as soon as you blurp the trigger!
