Why are you going with a 148mm? The stock pump properly set up is sufficient for that motor...

I'm beginning to wonder that myself. I was thinking because of some,of,the good deals floating around right now on the bigger pumps that if I could turn them with my motor it wouldn't be a big setback.

But I'm starting to think I should wait until I've got a bigger driveline to get a bigger pump.

I ride all surf with a similar motor (61x single carb motor,b-pipe, 35cc domes in ada, msd). My pump is stock with a skat 12/17 small hub prop and with tbm pump cone and i rarely have an issue or feel like I need more out of the pump, granted it is in a Rickter FS-2 with a bigger pump cavity. Although I did have the same setup in my superjet and it wasn't much difference performance wise. I feel like a big pump or a mag pump would put to much load on the small motor, and that there isn't enough motor to tap into all that pump can do. Just my theory I don't have anything to back that up.

That's why I was trying to get you to raise the compression atleast (although just that isn't enough to spin a 148 correctly)

I think it all depends on your upgrade timeline. Will you upgrade motor fairly soon?

If you have a lightweight a/m hull, then it will be easier to turn the 148 prop off the bottom. You need a 6 or 7 on the bottom and a relatively short top pitch as well. You can also space the prop forward to increase slip and let it spool up easier.

Upgrade is not as soon as I would like it to be. Probably somewhere in the scope of 1-2 years for the motor.
