I have a grand to blow.
I have a 300sx with a chipped up prop. The last ride of last fall I sucked up some big rocks at the beach trying to tune the carb. I'm such a moron. I'll never make that mistake again. So I need a prop for it. I've lost, easily 5 mph. And 25 mph is no fun.
I've been looking at some 550's for sale and with every single one there is an issue with the title. It's so frustrating coming across a clean looking ski and finding out the guy has just a bill of sale or a registration in someone else's name. How the hell do these guys get stickers? This problem is rampant in my area. Ski for sale, no title. A guy in sandusky has two 750's with no title. We agreed on 1000 for a 92 and then he tells me he has no title. With the 300 I had to chase down a series of 3 previous owners to finally get the thing in my name and I won't make that mistake again.
The latest guy, this ski: http://cleveland.craigslist.org/mcy/2942873377.html
has the title but it is in someone elses name. The dude claims he has NO TIME to go down to title bureau and make sure the title is transferable to me. He says he is to busy working on his business. In my head I'm going, so you don't have a half hour to make 400 bucks?
So I'm wondering what to do. Should I just reprop my 300 and enjoy it for another summer or should I keep looking? Which leads me to ask, does anyone have a lead on a used prop for my 300sx? New props are pretty steep.
What do you think I can get for a grand? And is anyone looking to sell a ski? And where can I look for ski's for sale. Craigslist in my area is pretty dried up. I would love to find an old superjet 650 or something in the 1000 to 1500 dollar range, but I've never seen a superjet on cleveland's craigslist.
