Freestyle What should my next mod be?

Yeah, I am a little skeptical on someone homemaking a hood, we'l see, don't know if they have any credentials for me to go off right now. Looks like I will go with the 10/16 prop since I plan to do a few more mods and won't be getting a mag anytime soon. Thanks.

Sounds good, that is what I will go with then, if I don't already have it. The previous owner really didn't know a lot about the ski so who knows whats on there. I am actually considering stepping up to a waterdawg x-jet hull since I really don't trust what the previous owner did to this ski and especially the reinforcement, but I think I a getting a little ahead of myself, just can't pass up a good deal. So its been quite a few days, when is the freak gonna be ready? I am hoping to take my SJ out this weekend in the bohemia for a little test run if my wetsuit gets here in time. I am hoping that river will be a little warmer then most places to ride around here.

i would do some pump work and quick steer modifications next. dial that pump in with a good prop, maybe a tmb/c-75 skat combo. check your reduction nozzle and see if it is bored to 85mm or not. i didn't see an enhancer or any ignition upgrade. for the price i would skip the enhancer and go with the epic, for TL i am still sold on the msd, but you like surf so a flame may be better suited for your riding. lighten the ski. shorten the ski. tighten the hand pole. think about porting your cylinder too. you got a pretty good setup already but if you have the sickness, then these are some of the next thing that should be done.

Definitely have the sickness! I don't know anything about my pump or prop, I am assuming all the same. I will have to take it all apart and see what is in there. I wil probably do that hooker prop, stubby cone, I don't know about any quick steer stuff because I want to have trim for the small waves/boat wakes we have around here. I don't think the ignition is upgraded, I will look into those. What can I do to lighten and shorten the ski? I am getting a new hood made now, the hull has been defoamed but reinforced for the surf, don't know how I could shorten the ski itself though? I am thinking about porting the cylinder, I kind of want to go with one of the 718 motors on a budget I saw, can't remember what X member was selling them. Most of these mods will be done in the off season, get a season under my belt this year and then go wild for next year. Thanks for your help.

i have the 2nd generation sport port floating around the gta members, everyone i know has used it to port their own motors, if you can find it, and convince them to send it to ya, by all means. that sucker has been passed around! the money you save you can get 83mm forged pistons and thats when your motor comes alive with the 35cc domes. put a blowsion metal base gasket and check your squish. there are many cheaper things you can do to your own motor in the off season and you will get furthur ahead doing it yourself. there are learning curves to all this. but if it is your mistake then you can't blame anyone but yourself. eventually you will learn enough that it makes sence to buy a better hull or motor. until then ride and mod every part you already have to make it work like the better parts you see. quick steer is more throw at the nozzle with less input from the bars. think about it and make it happen on your ski. use every last mm of the cable's throw without stretching or kinking it. this is a very important handling mod. cutting hulls? pfffft paaalease. cut it. and figure out the rest along the way.

as far as props are, i would get something that you can build into, the tbm with a 3mm cutback 12/17 skat c-75 is a great combo. It has some adjustability and it give quicker pump hook up. the hooker prop and stubby cone will work good but you will not get a fast priming pump. the stubby cone allows more water volume in the reduction nozzle which will take a bit longer to fill and then pressurize. this is great for a weaker motor that stumbles on the bottom end. it lets the motor rev up a bit higher/longer before the reduction nozzle is filled and pressurized. the tbm reduces water volume in the pump area behind the prop and allows faster priming or pressurizing. People are about to say it is over kill for your little motor and it will work it too hard. you will need to bore your reduction nozzle to change the amount of work the pump is doing. my buddy is running a 195psi ported 701cc single 48 powerbomb with v1 reeds, ported b-pipe with this pump combo and it rips hard, he bored his nozzle to 87mm which is too big and i thought i felt a bit over rev when trying his ski. i would stay at 85mm on the reduction nozzle with that prop/tbm/motor.
