What ski is right for me?? I have 10,000 to spend!

I think buying a Superjet to race or go 60mph is a horrible idea, especially a square. I enjoy racing my Superjet but its nothing like the SXRs. Yeah, I could get hull extensions and etc to set it up for race, but if that were the goal, then I would just get a sxr. My Superjet is a great rec (surf, flat and race) boat but it's the wrong ski for racing. Yes, they can be fast, but you have to be a better rider with more endurance to make it happen. It really sucks when you can't make a pass on a lesser rider because they have a better ski.

Unless I'm missing something he didnt say anything about racing?

He said he was looking to be doing 60. I assumed he had some intention of racing. The request is pointless otherwise. Why have a ski that does 60 if you plan to jump wakes and ride surf?

If op isn't planning on racing, he needs to spend some time thinking about what kind of riding he wants to do.

I think it's entirely possible to jump THEN do 60. Then maybe slow down and jump some more.

Why's it so black and white? Let's be responsible when we spend others money. lol.

I would say plenty! 155psi and a Speedwerx dry pipe and a 14.5/18.5 prop will get you like 58....and that was 10 years ago...

We havent gps either ski, but my ROK feels fine over 50 and theres a carbon superfreak walking me with no prob. If I had a generous guess, i'd say we're both doing just shy of 55 mph. IMO it's not easy to ride at those speeds for extended times because they are both short and weigh little. I find myself very low in the tray just to keep a good center of gravity and balance. I call both of these recreational hulls rather than full freestyle hulls. Don't expect them to ride 60 MPH all day because you will get tired out, especially in choppy conditions. If you're looking for something to go fast all day, you're better off getting a race hull. I think you have to give up something to get something, so it's up to you what you need before everyone can shove their opinions down your throat.

Gps'ed a sxr with pipe, head, prop, reeds, mag pump, race setup 52.

Superjet 13/17 concord, 170 psi, mod pipe, reeds, ignition, 2-3" water conditions 49 on GPS

Xs 900 Pv Superjet setup for racing, mod pipe, 46mm carbs, reeds, the works, chuckie tuned it, 55 on GPS 2" water conditions.

Sxr 1100 dried stock pipe, head, carbs, etc, I think its 60 or 61 on GPS.

So either no one in Florida know how to set up ski or phone GPS is wildly inaccurate. Just not sure where these numbers of 58 on a Superjet with a pipe is coming from.

Whats your setup? I have a hard time believing its close to 55mph. I topped out a RokR at 46 and it felt like I was doing 70+

My Stock Class SXR would hit just shy of 51 when the conditions were right. Low Humidity, Small Chop in the water (SXR's do not like glass). I can see 55 happening on a Rok with a decent motor package. but here is the deal. 55 is not that hard to get. 60 is a whole different thing. I remember when Tricky was pushing for 60/61. He was constantly tuning and trying things. This was before the Billet Motors, This was on 61X/62T cylinders and then Lamey Cast Cylinders. That 5 extra MPH is difficult to get. KMAC's SXR Limited that he won his National Title on in 2004 was a Mild Limited by standards at the time. He was only getting 56/57. Few years later, (He went back to Stock for a while) He went back to a full on limited and was only hitting 58 +/-. 60 MPH on a ski is way more than most can handled, and you are not going to go at that speed for long, even on a race course, your speeds are not gonna be that fast.

My ROK is 280lb RTR, stock SXR motor, high comp head, factory wet pipe and some light pump tuning
The carbon superfreak is DASA 1000 with some other goods on it.

If a comparable SXR package in a stock hull does a 50-52, then with 100 lbs less whats so hard to believe 54-55 mph on my ROK? That was my guesstimation. It was definately a bit faster than my old Superjet 781 with 62t cylinder Riva race sleeves, factory wet pipe, 180 psi, msd enhancer, mag pump 10/16.

A Rok-r at 30 mph must feel like 60 lol those things are super tiny I wish I could have one of those as well

I honestly don't remember so I could be wrong...but we GPS'd my current ski at 48....and I can't remember how we clocked that one. It was a long time ago....a race ski I bought...brought it home and it was the fastest thing in our whole group....by like a long shot! I guess I can't honestly say the speed and be 100% for sure but somehow we arrived at 58. It was a screamer and I have no doubts in was 10mph faster than my current ski. Maybe a racer can chime in.....155psi....speedwerx dry pipe....14.5 18.5 prop...I remember the low 155 allowed for higher RPM's....and you could tell!!
