i just realized what a difference the steering systems make as far as handling and was wondering which one to go with. is the nozzle mounted quicksteer necessary as well?
thanks

I think if I was starting over I would go with a complete X metal steering system with straight bars.

I have never used the thing on the nozzle so I don't know about that.

yea.

if you get the bars its 50 bucks more or you can get some 7/8's aluminum from mcmaster pretty cheap.

but with the umi set up you need the plate. atleast 40 bucks, bearings which is over 100 and bars which are 40 or more.

and the bearings on his system i think he said were 2 times the size of the umi and they are stainless i think .

Go with the TBM steering, My umi would never stay tight, picked up the TBM at world finals and its been tight since. i have an SXR and I have the Rick Roy pole setup which is for a yamaha. not enough quick steer, I just extended where the steering connects and will try it out tomorrow to see if that helps. i also trimmed some of the rear nozzle. got about another 1/4" of steering. adding the forth hole to the turn plate really gets things tight.

I have only run UMI so I can't say how it compares to the others. But if you go with UMI, I would get the stainless berring from Jet Ski Solutions as well as the tuff thrust kit. I know its another $40 ontop of the other UMI stuff but it makes the system last much longer.

I wouldn't buy a quick steer nozzle, just mod yours, really easy. I recently did one of BonziBobs pump conversions im my FX1, and it came with a Pro Tec nozzle. It had two settings and I used the inside one (quick steer) for a few weeks. Last week I drilled and taped a new hole, and clearanced the nozzle for a little more throw. Huge difference! I would say, no matter what steering system you run, mod the nozzle as well.

im confused. i like the tbm though. i want to run 4 degree bars and it seems like all the plates are for straight bars only

Dang it! I forgot about WDK's also. Jeff man you need to put it on your site.

Anyway it would be either x metal or WDK.
