What the fx was I thinking.

So I’m starting this build thread in hopes of getting some motivation to post and work on my build at least weakly. I bought this fx1 this summer in pieces. Has a CB rocker already semi glassed in and came with a 144 tunnel and some tubs as well. I finally started glassing in parts of the tunnel. Here’s where it sits as of now. Also really need to decide if I want to keep the bat wings as I call them over the tubs or put them back to stock location.

l’ll have to follow your build.I am rebuilding one myself.
As far as the rails go,they need to be extended all the way around.Maybe not quite that much.Helps the ski float better on surf and flat. Not my idea and there should be other threads on this same subject.Refer to an fx1 build that @hornedogg79 did a while back.
Be glad to help you with any questions you may have.

Oh I don’t doubt that they would help turning and such. But damn man. If it isn’t the ugliest mod ever

Im building an fx right now also and the bond rail is extended all the way around. Definitely not fun to sand..especially the underside where it meets the tubbie. Kind of wish people would stop hacking these things up..yours looked clean

It’s going much slower the I wanted. Got the pump totally glassed in on the inside, still need to do the finish work on the outside. This is how the ski sits in my garage. Unfortunately she won’t be touched for the next 3 months as I am moving back to St. Louis for 3 month. And the ski will be staying in Georgia.
As for now. I am working on the 2.5 inch exhaust tube and flange. And waiting for my new exhaust and tank. So I can see where I need to mount my ufo strap anchors.

Will you be lowering the exhaust tube (under the tray)? l am lowering mine because of using the rrp adj footholds.Luckily l have my silicone exhaust hose that has a couple of curves up to the w/box.

l will have to cut the flange off the pipe because of a different angle.Haven’t decided to re-weld it back on yet.

Yeah I will be going lower with the tube. I just ordered some 1/16 inch aluminum plate I was going to make the flange out of. And welding it at the angle needed to get nice oem style finish.

i am doing adjustable footholds too. But mine are krash rail mounted holds so I can run one as a front foothold if I want

Well since I can’t do much on the fiberglass right now. I’ve been ordering lots of parts just had both my tank and carbs come in. Now to wait on the pipe. And figure out who I want to port my 760 once that tax return hits.
