Okay looking for some input to see if I'm in the right or wrong here....

I bought a benelli S8 from a guy in Chicago 4 wks ago... His buddy posted it on the x asking $6500 with the link to Craigslist .. I call the owner Fred and talk with him about the ski and the problem with the motor. I was out of town that afternoon working on a plane in Nashville. I offer him $6,000 on th terms I would wire the funds the next day when I arrived back home. Seller agreed .. Later that night he sent me a text asking if I was really going to purchase the ski, I replied I can PayPal you a deposit ... He said no, just wire in the morning...

I wire the funds as agreed, I arrange shipping and get the ski.. Repairs are made and the ski is back together. The seller sends me what was suppose to be title and other paper work, oil filters, etc.. Now he send me a text and says I just checked my bank statement and I only got 6k...

I was like yes, that was what we agreed on.. I'm a little pissed about the paper work, no real title.. But never said a word to him.. A deal is a deal, sometimes it's great and sometimes you get a bad deal... Oh well

But this guy is demanding I send him $500.... I wouldn't have bought the ski for $6500, I'm that kind of person...

So am I right stand by what we agreed? Why would he ship the ski if he thought I owed him more money..

Opinions would be great, good or bad

The guy sounds like a cheap prick trying to weasel more money out of you. He would not have shipped it if he thought you still owed him money. I would tell him to :):):):) off!

A deal is a deal. Does he have the title for the ski, or is the paperwork you have the only titlework?

If you have it documented that $6000 was agreed on..... I'd tell him too bad. Leave neg feedback factually detailing the transaction if he bothers you more.

As far as I know what he sent was what he had... I guess.. Was some photo copies and a email from where he bought it saying new mso... The paper work he sent me isn't going to fly to title it...

I have sent him an email stating the facts... And if he feels I was wrong he's more than welcome to buy it back. Told him I paid 6k, have $1500 in it with shipping and repairs... So $7500 and he can have it back.. I think that's more than fair on my part...

All I have is a phone conversation .. Nothing in writing... He tried to send me a txt saying $6500 .. Which I never read or didn't get... I just think who ships a ski to someone with no past transactions, etc without knowing your deal fully funded..

Thanks for all the replys

You are fighting your ego...nothing else, if $ 250 doesnt hurt who cares, settle it and move on , the Seller is a duche why waste your brain time

Probably found out you fixed it for cheap and now wants
More money out of it. Isn't this the same guy who just wanted to move on from the ski and
Money was not the issue.

I'd have to agree with what has been said So far...who lets a ski go without having Payment in full.

If your side of the story is true(not saying you are lying..just basing my opinion off what you have told us) then I don't see why you would owe him anything.

Anyone in their right mind would have confirmed that the money had been wired to their acct the same day it was supposed to have been wired. At that point, he would have known how much money was sent. If not you could have sent him $1500. Even if he didn't check it the same day, I bet he checked it before he sent the ski.

It sounds like maybe he was offered the full amount from other buyers and now he is trying to not feel screwed out of money. If you guys made even a verbal deal then your conscious should be free. There is no way he could force you to pay the $500 extra.

X10.. If he wanted more money, he should have stated it before he shipped it. If there is no agreement written down, than the only proof that you payed what was asked is the fact that he shipped the freaking ski...right?

And it's not like he can make an argument since he doesn't have any thing physically saying you owe him more money. You can't defend yourself very well since you don't have proof, but neither does he. I'd tell him to take a hike.

An MSO is just a certificate of origin. When you go to register the ski in your state, you may have to pay tax that he MAY have not paid when he bought the ski. I work in sales at a Motorsports shop and run into this problem with ATV's and UTV's trade in's on a regular basis.... It can be a pain in the ass... However, if he lives in a state where they don't title personal watercraft, an MSO may be all that he would have.

Holy cow! 6k and no title??? I'd be laughing at his demands and telling him HE owes me the 7.5K since HE renigged on sending appropriate papers and is a useless ski in most states.

That guy is retarded. He shipped the ski to you when you paid him the 6K. Whats he going to do, take you to court and say he was supposed to pay me more but didn't after I shipped it to him? They'll look at the dude and say "you idiot, you packed the thing up and shipped it to him so obviously you got the money you wanted".

Like everyone else said, I'd just leave it alone b/c you're in the right.
