Im putting a b-pipe on and need my caps removed.

From my research it looks like I have only two options.

Send them to jetski solutions for the cap removal/ billet mixture knobs installed. Has anyone had this done, any reviews?????
Is there anyone else doing this work yet, or is JS the best?

Or I buy a set of carbs before they put the tamper caps on...Before 03:banghead: :banghead:

Thanks for the insight.

Get a big screwdriver-sized drill bit and just chew through the caps. Or make a small hole, tap it, and use a dent puller. You won't be able to adjust them while they are in the boat unless you do the JSS service or find some extended t-handle screws.

The alums need JB welded to the original mixture knobs which have to be ground down a little to remove the ribs.

I tried them and lost a couple to the scupper. I would go with the brass t handled ones.

From my understanding though, you can not use oem screws on the 05 carbs, due to them needing to be longer.:banghead:

Is anyone selling oem adjustment screws which are longer?:cool2:

You can use the originals. You just can't adjust them in the boat. The JSS knobs are very nice but I wouldn't recommend the expense unless you plan on doing on-the-fly tuning.

Go with Jetski Solutions. Have those carbs taperbored, epoxy coated, and get all get the billet fuel nobs installed. Ask for the works. You will not be sorry. Great way to go if you are not going with bigger carbs. Excellent inprovement for $350.

You can pick up 44mm mikunis for $350.

I ran into this problem, and just decided to go with 44s.

You will need some additional mods to get them to work, but I could not justify that much for 38s.

yep -nice huh? GPR 1200r I did was the first time I ran into it. way to go Yamaha- I will never need to get in there. why even put an adjustment in there ?

carb caps

I took a thin cutting wheel on a die grinder and just cut them off, there's about a 1/4" of space before you get to the screws. As for adjusting them in the ski, it's hard, but I use a car carb adjusting tool (long flexible shaft) with a small slotted bit in the end of it, works fine. Why spend $350 when you can go to pep boys and spend $12.99.....

So whats the reasoning behind why you cant remove the caps/ old adjustment screws. And than replace them with 03 and older t handle adjustment screws?

I think a lot of John @ JSS but 350 for carb work?? That must be a lot of labor to rework those carbs. I bought 2 New silver body Mikuni 44's for 358 delivered. Much better value IMO

It's only $100 for the cap removal..with billet adjustment screws installed.
