What to sacrifice when impeller is stuck

I've got a solas 12/17 stainless stuck on the drive shaft. Intentions are to replace it with a hooker 9/15. Got the prop to spin 2-3 turns and now it's tight. I used heat and way too long of cheater pipes... My initial thought was galling. Now, what's my best option? I was going to cut the 12/17 in two and remove it that way unless someone has a better idea

Heat prop with torch and use 4' pipes on the wrenches for leverage. May have to stand on one of the pipes. Also remember prop has left hand threads.

I would love to know how you guys get these soft as butter prop tools to stand up to 4' cheater pipes and even anything other than regular human force on a short handled ratchet for that matter! They are stupid and weak! :mad:

X2 can c solas prop tool breaking quick, have used the heat method and long arse cheaters pipes on stubborn stock props

Used heat, used cheaters, still stuck. I feel any more and I will break the prop tool or strip the shaft. If it is indeed galled, it won't matter anyway. It will only come off by cutting it. My next attempt will be to see if I can spin it at least back to where it started and then try again. If I can't even get another turn out if it, I'll cut it off

You could weld tabs on the prop and put it in a lathe and spin it off or send it to Dave at Impros and let him do it....I have...

I use box end wrenches on the prop / shaft tools. No open end wrenches or the will slip.
And most often have to stand on the pipe to get it to go. Give it a bounce with full weight.
M20 LH die to clean up the shaft threads.

It's soaked in on blaster now. I honestly believe it's galled and toast but will give it one more try. Also, as recommendation from a pipe fitter buddy that frequently deals and uses stainless equipment, nuts and bolts and such, said heat only makes it worse. Plus, once galling starts, it's shot and they always cut apart galled bolts at work. It's becoming clear what I think I need to do

Yes, I think you are right that is is galled and probably already torn some threads loose.

If my shaft is damaged
After I cut the impeller off, I'll be getting ahold of you for a replacement,
That's for sure.
