Custom/Hybrid What to use: Bonding top deck to bottom?

First off... In less than 2 years on my old stunt hull, everything that was bonded to the hull with 5200 came off. So that shouldn't even cross your mind in hull assembly IMO.

Second... Why is everyone obsessed with strong/flexible when assembling hulls? By creating a flexible joint, you are isolating the two halves of the hull. If you want that, then so be it but by doing that you aren't allowing the two pieces to reinforce each other (think egg shell here). Isolating the two halves requires more material and more weight to achieve the same strength. The plus side to that is... if one half of the hull breaks, the other may not since the loads can't transfer very well through the flexible bonding agent. The downside is... you may break one half of your hull when it otherwise wouldn't have if you had not isolated the two halves.

I'm with Waternut on this topic. If you use 5200 to have flexibility and isolate vibration, why bother reinforcing your hull sides bridging the bond line? Make that hull assembly as rigid and strong as possible. Think Monocoque.
