What tool do you use to make a D-cut?

So what do you actually use to make the cut? I tried using a metal blade in a jig saw, but it bunged the blade up in a quarter of an inch. Is the jig saw the best tool or is there something else?

Yeah, it's just that I cut for no time at all, looked down at the blade and it was nice and smooth, haha. Maybe I need one of those high end titanium blades, or something of that nature?

cutoff wheel, and sander. I'm diggin my d-cut for handling and jumping. You gotta watch though if you go big, because it is real easy to nut-sack it!

I tried that as well...mangled my blades...maybe I just have garbage blades.

Use a finer toothed bi-metal blade for cutting aluminum and hold the saw with some pressure against the back of the ride plate.

The wood cutting blades don't work well and the saw jumps all over the place.

wow not trying to throw you a curve ball here but a fine tooth blade will plug really quick. I use a bandsaw here in our shop however a jigsaw will work also however you need to use like a 10 t.p.i. blade and you will be fine. that rideplate is cast alum. it cut's easy you just have to keep the blade from plugging use some wd-40. goodluck
