I am showing may age a bit here but my first ski was a 1975 440, I bought in pieces, the engine had the weird H2 kawasaki piston mod where the cylinder was cut all the way from the transfer port too the bottom of the cylinder, it used Kawasaki H2 motorcycle pistons , it ran like a raped ape ( well for a kid on a 440 anyway) I rode it a couple of years and built a 550 reed ski with dual carbs and a Coffman pipe. I still have the hull to the second ski I may put it back together one day.

For me , my first ride was in 88 on a 550. Thats what set the hook. Took some graduation money in '93 to buy a cherry stock '89 650 sx. Rode it for Season or two stock ,then I painted, bought a 44sbn carb, intake, impeller, and a kirker tail cone i believe. Hyper-Tec was my Local Ski Shop. It made a few trips to South Haven. Miss watching Hot Summer Nites on espn.

Kawi 650sx.
Learned to ride standups on one, so I bought one for myself. This was before I ever rode a superjet and learned what riding was really about. But I liked it alot at the time lol. Put a 750 in, dual 40mm SBN's, kept the 650 flywheel, milled the head for 175psi. Did the oem pipe mods and tried a PJS pipe too. Footholds, aluminum pole, skat 9-17 prop, Rend ride plate, worx intake grate.....kinda miss it now lol.

My 1st ski was a 1998 kawasaki 750 sxi and since then I moved on to an SJ and then a Rickter XFS comp. I have learned so much from all my different skis and will never forget the memories they have left me with.

300sx. Still have it. Thing cant get out of its own way. Ive seen insects accelerate faster. Years later when i got my first superjet it was like a different sport.

In 1979 I was 12, my cousin had a brand new Kawasaki JS440 at his cottage. He let me ride it, you couldn't remove the smile from my face with a baseball bat. Flash Forward 15 years. I'm talking to him at a Christmas party. We started talking about the ski, he says "hey I still have it, it's been in the basement of my business for over 15 years. Do you want it?" It was in my garage before new year's!
