Super Jet What would case a SJ to have heavy white smoke?

I bought the ski but haven't picked it up yet. Its using yamalube oil 40:1. I guess I will just have to wait until I get it home. Hopefully it is ok, but the smoke can be explained by the oil but what about the steam in the cylinder? I guess let me just get this thing and go from there. Thanks for everyones help.

Not yet, probably tomorrow or Saturday, I will keep the price a secret for now. I am just excited to get my first SJ! But what worries me is that it smoked before, but not like this, it POURS out smoke, but also the steam in the cylinder. I will get it home and figure it out then and update everyone.

Saw a video of it bring flushed, looks like it was hose on, engine on, engine off, hose off....not good! Can't water going thru it with the engine off cause water to get into the engine, then can't compress and boom! Think that has a factor with anything? I'm trying to look at every little possible aspect, just want to know what I'm getting into as best as possible, guess I'll see tonight when I pick it up. I really do appreciate everyone's help and patience.

what head is that? 150 is stock compression right? could be smokeing off the fogging fluid from winterizing, the seller thinks theres a large problem with it so as kevbo said use that to jew him way down on price. if you end up rebuilding the engine you still have a nice platform to work off of. get him down 1000 plus and if you rebuild your roughly back to asking price depending on how you do it up.

Actually a cracked cylinder doesnt have to mean all of the above. You can use the sleaves in another 61X cylinder and if the bore and pistons are good and within tol. re use them as well. So $100 best case scenario with cracked cylinder. Very well could be head, dome or rig issue. $500 is worse case as I said and I would have him come off that much from what you feel a fair price is on a GOOD RUNNING ski with the mods that are involved. Just my way of thinking.

well I got the ski. I honestly don't think there is anything wrong with it. I am going to flush out the old premix with new and see how it goes. I might take it out on the water on monday, it'll be 80 here but the water is in the 40s still, just can't fall! I will keep everyone posted.

Check out post 15. Watch the video. I think boyers ski is f'ed up too! :lmao:

Come to think of it my 08 was smoking quite a bit too. Hopefully Art made it more environmentally friendly. :lmao:

LOL, I was coming here to post that vid with the same question and you beat me to it. That's after several hours of runtime too. That's just how my engine smokes with the Quicksilver Premium oil mixed at 32:1. Runs awesome and I am not worried in the least.

Yeah, hopefully mine goes away, I want to flush out the gas tank, new pre mix then take it for a ride. What oil should I use? I have yamalube right now, all the same?
