We have 3 big boar 2stroke bikes
My dad picked up a new wr450 cause he wants to start doing enduro rides a friend has a clean 05wr wr450 with all the guards and basic mods done already under 100 miles for $1500 hes the orgibal owner and hes 80 so its like new.
Tired so motor= hundreds of hours ive taken on water dozens of times but it still runs

there is an unspoken rule on used dirtbikes, never buy from a friend or family member! get a new topend for the sj and grab a '13kx450, they are sick!!!!, there havent been too many stock bikes made that didnt need work out of the box, the '12 and '13 are ready to go and the air forks are awsome, Fro is wise!!

Don't tell that poor motor it's old and tired just because you're young and spry and need more powah.
I would feel obligated to ask the family member if they would sell the bike to a stranger for the same deal. If yes, then flip it and get your motor. If it's a special just only deal for you, and they could sell it for the same if not doing you a favor, then it is wrong for you to lie to that friend for a profit. Don't abuse a favor.

It may just be the market where I live, but a steel frame WR450 for $1500 is a just a fair deal. Would be hard to sell for much more than that. If it were an 06+ I would say its worth a good bit more. Just my .02

Unless your pro you probably wont be any faster on a new bike like that rather than one thats a few years old. Stay away from the 2005 and older kawi thumpers, theyre ticking time bombs. I probably wouldnt get a honda either. If you want a bike get a clean 250f. The older style yamaha motor is supposed to be bullet proof (2009 and older idk about the 2010 and newer with the rearward slanting cylinder) Except for the 125 2 strokes. And really you shouldnt need to do much work to a stock bike...unless youre really racing competitive. Maybe buy an exhuast with a spark arrestor for the woods and thats about it.

well i want to keep my steel frame cr500 extend it 4inches for the hillclimbs i do still ride dunes with it. and the wr450 is street legal my dad wants to do the piaute trails in utah next summer and you need a plated bike for them. thats why i'm looking into this bike cause i'm a serious 2stroke fan
