When I first took the spring out I hated it but after a little bit of riding I enjoy it better than a spring. Rode a ski this past weekend with a spring for about 5 minutes because I hated it. Lol

I cannot stand a pole so tight you have to force it. My Xmetal is tight enough to not move much if I let go, and loose enough to float with you. Heck, I even raced my SJ with the pole this way, did not make me tired.

I ran a stiff pole last year and didn't like it. If you go with the blowsion spring..........good luck. I tried and ended up gettting a stock sj spring. I love the stock spring with a medium tight pole, stays right where I put it. If you use the stock SJ spring, make sure you use the RRP spring tensioner.......see link below. The toughest part of the install for me was getting the breather tubes around the spring and into the pole tube. http://shop.tcfreeride.com/rrp-pole-spring-tensioner/

Thanks, why is the Blowsion so bad? I dont have a stocker on hand - but I do have a spare blowsion on hand. I hear its just to springy, but it can be heated to de-tension it?

I was in the same boat, had a blowsion one on hand. I thought it had way to much preload, especially when used with the RRP spring tensioner. I tried modifying it with heat, what a PITA.

Agreed, I had a Blowsion spring as well. Wayyyy to stiff for what I was doing, would launch my pole up if I let go. I gave it to my buddy and ended up cutting down my stock spring.

if you do strictly flat water, a tight pole is better. if you rec ride/chase boats, a spring is better. the pole moving up and down acts like a shock absorber for your body. thats why fixed steer skis beat you down if jumped, but are easier to ride. it all depends on what you are doing or what YOU personally like. some like the pole so tight, you have to yank it up. i like mine just tight enough to stay where you leave it, but i chase boats and do flat water. on a beater superjet, i want a good spring that the pole moves easily without sticking.

OMG! So. Many. Innuendos..... My inner immature child is dying!

Even if your spring is strong enough, tightening your pivot bolt may result in better performance.

You should consult your mechanic before you start using a tightened pole pivot. Use of a tight pole pivot may result in the attempt of unsafe tricks. A pole stuck in the upright position for greater than 4 hours may require immediate mechanical intervention.

Try tightening your pole pivot today, and ride like teenager again.

I always thought a tight pole was for doing "No Handed" tricks? I hate tight poles, but then again I have no interest in No Handed tricks. I see no advantage in running a tight pole if you're not into No Handed tricks.
