Good point, that's some advice I'll definitely take! I have a mount on the front of my ski also looking back at myself, but the ski ends up filling up most of the frame. I'm very new to this sport, so I'll take any pointers I can get!
Hees an extra pointer then. Use a lanyard even on your helmet. Floaty back should be plan b not plan a. Mounts fail. For the nose of the ski it can be as simple as a 1/8" piece of rope tied to your handle pole bracket. If you have extra money, there are commercial options. I plan to pickup a commecial lanyard for my helmet soon because obviously extra string around my head would be dumb.
Remember though the base of the camera case where the bolt goes through can break. A lanyard isnt a free ticket to abuse the mounting.
I like to rock the suction cup mount when riding bouys. Lanyard is even more important then.
The bobble head view is great for a laugh even if you arent doing anything exciting. Thats the mount that extends the helmet mount infront of you then you can position it looking backwardsand downwards at your face. Theperspective makes your head big and stationary while your body flops arojnd under neath.
Enjoy the chest mount for biking and sport class skis but not a huge fan on the stand up. I put the handle pole into my chest a lot so its not a greatbplace for a camera.
