What's next?

Don't expect any help from the Kawasaki factory. Just be happy they bother to build them anymore.

DI? Not anymore. Due to current "environmental" laws, the OE's have pretty much given up on two strokes.

My vote for what's next is simple:

This will do it for another 5 years easy.

Brian I've been drooling over your stuff for a while, I guess the real question is how reliable would a engine with your 1000cc PV cylinder be? I want the big HP but I also want "ride every day reliable", am I dreaming?

No sir,

I wish it were mine, but this is a DASA part.

It will be no less reliable than the 701 based powerplants we have been building for years.

As long as you use good parts, don't be over-aggressive on ignition
timing, use good gas, maintain the assembly, ect, ect, you will be fine.

comparing apples to apples.stock to stock.
the bearings are nowhere near as sturdy on a kawi, smaller cheeks with less surface for main pins etc..
kawi generally always had weak cranks and it shows in racing as opposed to the yami's.
wouldn't know about crankworks crank but would think still limited by oem case size.

Ok then.

Considering the few stock components people still use that are "stock", none of that even applies.

We are at the point now where the hulls aren't even stock anymore.

Pretty soon the Kawi won't even need the weak non-stroker stock case it was born with.

do i smell billet kawi cases coming from the haas?

It is a project I am working on. As long as the billet cylinders begin to move, this will gauge demand for a significant investment of time and money to build cases.

I still haven't recouped my investment into the SJ cases yet. Some of that can be parlayed into the SXR deal, but it is still a significant amount of time.

thank you for doing this, even though i haven't bought anything from you, yet, i think it is really cool that you would take the time and effort to make these products for us watercraft guys. i am sure there is not a fortune for you to make and people will always bitch but i would have to say that most of us appreciate the knowledge and experience you have shared with us. Snowmobiles have had this stuff for decades and 2 strokes are making a comeback and i can't wait to see what is in store for us in the next few years. keep up the cool projects please.

oh i realize you guys have been around but its very cool that you guys are still willing to go through all the effort for little payback. how about a semi direct injection powervalve motor for us? any chance? ;)

FI and fuel controllers have been around awhile, but it is really cost prohibitive for engines of "our" size except for the upper echelons of the racing circuit.

Not many people would pony up for a $3000 induction system/computer to run it. The gains just aren't worth it. the money could be better spent in something like pipe development for the huge motors we are building these days.

Just my worthless two pennies.

I'm with D-Roc about 2 stokes coming back. I also think it's great to see DASA making some Kawasaki cylinders.
AS for the SXR I'd like to see a di or etec type motor. Kawasaki needs to step it up. The SXR needs to be competive with the hydrospace.

It would be nice...

But like I said, in my opinion, I would just be happy they even keep producing them. I wouldn't expect much in ANY form of R&D from any OE on a two stroke platform.

I wouldn't even bother wishing it would happen.

Just for sh its and giggles, send an email off to Yamaha or Kawi and ask them about their models. I would be curious as to the response you get.

i also see the main benefit of di or an e-tec being the fuel consumption, pollution and tunability and not so much hp increase. kawi has some good stuff, i like the ignition vs the yamaha ignition which hasn't been updated in ages. the flywheel/ stator is a much better design than yamaha too. i just can't help dreaming about a super high tech 2 strokes like the sleds, or some of the aprilla bikes have. smaller engines with impressive hp numbers. Rotax 600 H.O. E-tec is one of my favorite. small motor, small pollution, great fuel economy. i can dream.

i love that motor, 1/2 the size of the thumper and same performance. did i mention ktm has a efi 250 2 stroke waiting for rules to change.......oh yeah its coming! the 2 stroke revolution. the watercraft industry needs DASA to keep on doing what they are doing so we don't get shafted when it happens.
