just installed an x-metal trim setup on my RN and was curious to see what the best trim lever would be…i know its all preference but i just wanted to see what seems to be the most popular….

X2 I'm installing a trim for the first time. I was wondering if lever could be shorted and re-welded as to make a two finger pull. I just don't know if two fingers will be easy to pull.

you could just cut it and file the end down...or maybe I'm not understanding how you want to modify it

In order to get full throw the lever needs to extend until it hits bars. Problem is ergonomics. It's like riding a motorcycle and pulling in the clutch with only two fingers. Dirt bike style riding this way your hand still stays clamped to the grip. It's possible to mount lever closer to center but looks goofy and may be difficult to reach with just two fingers. Cut and re-weld to get correct feel and maintain full extension. Some guys on post have mentioned bending lever for more travel.

IMO, the best lever ever was the lever sold with the 1st gen Thrust trim systems, but good luck fining one.

The current best trim lever if the FRI lever, looks great, feels great, plenty of pull, different colors and you can get a throttle lever to match it. My biggest grip with many of the current trim levers is that when you pull them, the very end of the lever hits the bars too soon, limiting pull. The lever needs to have a well designed bend IMO that allows it to sit flush with the grip when pulled all the way in... just my 2 cents...

Ill add to it saying most people are recommending bike brake levers for trim levers. These aren't designed for what we do, they aren't set up to be comfortable when pulled to the grip as most people wouldn't want their brake lever bottoming out on the grip when trying to ride. You can often fix these by heating them up and adding some more bend to them... again, just my 2 cents...

i kind of like the UMI or RIVA. both are billet and you can bend the lever to get more throw. i was buying left hand bicycle levers when i built trim systems to sell. all metal are best and an angled fulcrum for the most throw. a lot of cheap trim levers that come with high dollar trim systems are total garbage and have no throw. unless its an easy pull, its not going to be easy to pull. i build a wheel and put it on the nozzle and make it an east pull. this is one of my hillbilly easy pulls currently apart.
